It seems like only yesterday when I had the tank out to replace the fuel pump. In reality it was 8 years ago. When I had the tank out to replace the pump (VN commodore pump) I replaced the fuel hoses, clamps, flushed the tank, Tectyl the seems and thought well I won't have to go there again for another 20 years.
So when the tank started leaking from the top and obviously from the pump area, I was very ****ed to say the least. So after removing the custom rear bar and the tow bar just to get access to remove the tank, I took the trouble to make an access hole for the fuel pump.
The leak was actually coming from the rather dodgy connector assembly on top of the fuel pump assembly. So I removed it and silicon sealed the wiring in the hole. I tied the wiring harness to the pump output pipe so it doesn't work in that area.
Here is the hole cut in the floor.

After I reinstalled the tank the hole was not quite on target but close.

And here it is fitted in place before using some silicon sealant to seal it off.
