super red hot chillie.
wine and cheese night, black suit night and I had a few wines and picked up off a platter what I thought was a bit of capsican. How wrong I was, thought to ones self now HTFU and get over it. Ate this bloody thing without a wince followed on by copius amounts of foul tasting bread, not a noise was uttered from my mouth and bravely went on as nothing strange was happening. Had lots of looks of bewilderment and admorasion though. Happened some 20 years ago and still gets a mention at times

Years ago, after much badgering from 2 small boys, we relented and went into the drive through at big M for some hamburgers.
Not impressed to say the least.
Tried them again a year or so later, still not impressed.
Another time I was up the East coast of Malaysia (bit of a tour on the motorbike) I stopped in a local eatery.
Menu was in Malay and Chinese, - not too many foreigners around there then, and the only thing I could recognise was 'ayum' and 'padi' - being 'chicken' and 'rice field'.
A bit of wild chicken would be nice!
Meat in gravy served on rice - but what was the meat? It tasted like a bit like chicken with a different texture.
It turned out to be frog.
After the initial shock of realising what it was, it was thoroughly enjoyable.
Silliest thing I have ever eaten was a couple of shrimps on biscuits at a work Xmas lunch a couple of years ago. Only ate a few, I was feeling ill by 4pm, by 7 I was unable to walk - never been so sick.
cheers

I swallowed a large golden orb spider while sucking in the big ones during an uphill contact drill when I was an infantry soldier. I actually sucked it into my mouth and clamped down it to stop it going into my oesophagus. The most vile bitter terrible thing I have ever tasted.....I spat for hours.

ok the fried insect thing in Thailand/Cambodia/Laos/Vietnam etc...
no big deal, I've eaten em all and they are more like potato chips than anything else - never been sick either with plenty of opportunites over the years...
I've eaten a briyani that had 20% maggots cooked into the rice - near indistinguishable from the rice except with higher protein :)
the cockroach from a public toilet - raw? alive? or cooked? if cooked, no big deal... if wiggling... you have my vote so far as it was by choice!

Not sure this counts as technically i didnt eat it;) it didnt get into my mouth and i didnt inhale :p
At great expense to oneself and allowing ones self to be humiliated within the confines of this place
I stuck my lips together with superglue
there I admitted it.
1977 I was eight years old, i was in a hurry,
it didnt end well :(
actually i dont recall much of my childhood but strangely enough I remember the pain of this.
It wasnt pretty, it wasnt flash, it hurt like hell but I guess it was effective. Essentially the top layers of both lips were FORCEFULLY removed. All I really remember is howling in pain and the god awful taste of whatever the crap was they put on to obviously scab up the lips to repair themselves. Some ointment of horrible proportions.
Im sure salty chips and vinegar or some stupid joke reverberated around the house and I provided hours of endless amusment for other (i fear i might have done so again)
Funnily enough I havent hadmuch to do with glue since

The outcome was 2 days in bed, either from what I ate or how much I drank in the previous 24 hrs, my mum telling every man and his dog about it,5 yrs worth of rock candy as xmas and birthday presents and folklore in the darwin copshop for years to come...But I never lost my license or got fined so I guess I came out even.

Silliest thing I ever drank was 1/2 bottle of cordial concentrate - had been 30+ hours in the fire truck - no break for food, totally knackered when we got back to the station.
The police had been down and scoffed all the pizza, only a few crusts left.
Grabbed some crusts and a bottle of what I thought was orange juice - nope! It was concentrate.
Didn't notice till it was half gone.
Yuk
Drank lots of water after that.

At least cordial concentrate is better than wetting agent. I've drunk that before 'THINKING' it was cordial :(:(.
Stuff we used to have in the 70s was green like lime 'coola' cordial.
We did the reverse to the police in '94 they were delivering some food to us on the fire ground at Como (Maccas/KFC etc) when I noticed they had pizzas on the back seat. Was a quick job to tea leaf the pizzas and jump over a wall with my crew for a feed. :D:D
