This video is enough to convince me that the D3 is a fantastic machine which do not need any mods. Only perhaps some body protection to keep it nice.
it is a nice video to demostrate that it is more then enough for all of us that would like to go camping to a remote place.

Only perhaps some body protection to keep it nice.

And that's the number one problem with the current D3 and D4 IMHO; colour coded wheel arches and bumpers are asking for trouble. The width of the D3 and the rear departure angle does mean you collect the odd scrape, although the turning circle does help a lot.

Sort of on topic as the OP mentions protection:D
I have a 06 D3 which doesn't have the colour coded guards/wheel arches. How easy is it to remove scratches from these or how costly to replace?

No need to remove the scratches if not colour coded. They are really hard to see.

Scratches. The cost of fun. Beauty marks. Only the first few hundred are painful. A good detailer can work wonders with scratches.

However...there are transparent films you can apply to your bodywork.
