Hey all,

-Installed a TD5 tacho into my 130. Does anyone else with a tacho report a slow response? I expected more of an instantaneous display - especially for $225...

-After washing my truck after the dust storm last week (but before the second one of course ), almost the entire inside of the front windscreen was wet. Not moist, water beading wet. Is there a 'normal' place that the seals fail?

-Upon approaching about 95-100kms and holding that speed, the entire front end shakes vigorously. I am hoping this is simple wheel alignment problem, but if it was, wouldnt it shake all the time?

-When holding any speed in 4th or 5th, there is a 'whir' sound from the transmission. I dont think its a problem, but will it get any worse?

-Can anyone report a bad earth through the cigarette lighter? When running any of my chargers, it creates unbearable static over the radio. There is no static when playing a cd though.

-What are anyones recommendations on roof consoles? Considering making my own, but not sure if I am up to the task.

Thanks guys

Hi, and welcome to the forum. My TD5 tacho works like it should. Possibly a loose connection??

-After washing my truck after the dust storm last week (but before the second one of course ), almost the entire inside of the front windscreen was wet. Not moist, water beading wet. Is there a 'normal' place that the seals fail?

The seals around the windscreen are prone to leaking, but should be an easy fix. My defender has not leaked for 3 years, (knocking on wood as I type) since the last "fix"

-Upon approaching about 95-100kms and holding that speed, the entire front end shakes vigorously. I am hoping this is simple wheel alignment problem, but if it was, wouldnt it shake all the time?

My Defender has developed a wabble after going over a bump at speed. I had the "shudders" in the past, and it turned out to be wheel balance. Will now look into panhard rod bushes, and such.

I'm surprised you can hear the transmission in 4 - 5th gear.:D
