1. Can anyone tell me what after market wheels bolt straight on to a D3/D4?
2. Does anyone know what wheels and tyres are on the Discovery 3 Project in the September Overlander 4WDmagazine?
(I was lucky enough to have a go in the D4. Nice. A little bit more pull and a little softer. Not an amazing jump from the D3 though)

LR is selling the 3.0/5.0 D4 with a minimum of 19" rims, with 18" only available on the 2.7. It seems that so far no-one has had the opportunity / inclination to try fitting a D3/D4 18" rim.

1. D3 TDV6 - 17"s. V8 - 18s.
D4 3.0 TDV6 - the placard and manual says it'll take 235/70/17 and 255/55/18. However, having looked at the size of the brake calipers which are bigger than the D3 V8's, I am not convinced at all. I will find out for sure. As for the D4 V8, IMHO that's a moot point as at $130k nobody will be buying one given there's an HSE spec in the 3.0 TDV6, but I suspect the answer there is 19s.
2. Performance BB-6s.

I'm enjoying your wheel/tyre articles in 'Overlander', Robert. Nice work.
I am a little concerned that when I finally have all the D3 options under control, I'll actually be moving from D3 to D4 and starting at Question 1 again.
I look forward to getting some info about Aussie D4 options too. I'm sure I won't be the only one...

Thanks. Refer to the FAQ above for the latest on D4 rims, I have confirmed min 19" now OEM, but Gordon is organising 18s.

From your extensive history on the topic...What after market wheel RIMS (NOT tyres) are available for my D4 2.7 S (old engine & brakes with the factory 255/60R18)? Are there any 16" rims that fit the 2.7?

And some of us have some spare genuine 19" HSE alloy wheels available for those who might require an extra one..

17" Fit on the 2.7litre D4.
There are a numberof options & a thread about these somewhere.
I imported 6 OEM 17's from the UK on ebay.
Cost about $800.00 landed in Melbourne from memory.

You can only put 19 inch wheels on the D4 :o:(
A very tricked up and great looking 2.7 D4 is owned by a gent at Melbourne Landrover. His has 17inch rims with some very meaty Micky Thompsons on it. He ran a 4wd course my wife was on with me and the kids in the back screaming in terror:D you might like to give them a call and try and get the details.
