Found a place in Darwin that had the full line up...

... of Nikon gear. Go on admit it you only clicked on this to see if I was referring to a Discovery 3;)

Anyway I'm going to upgrade my D200 later in the year and really wanted to compare the D300s, D700 and D3 models. D3 is brilliant and really feels nice to hold. The other thing that appeals is up to 6000 shots battery life and the 2 CF card slots. D700 really does feel a lot like the D300s and like it has a cropped view finder that the D3 doesn't have.

I was also able to try out the Nikkor 400mm f/2.8 and 600mm f/4 lenses - now I want to sell the Defender and buy a couple of extra lenses:( Oh boy are they nice and sooooo fast to focus:cool: Shame the 400 weighs about 4.5kg and the 600 about 5.5kg:eek:

So now I just have to get over the holiday and find a good price on a D3 (or maybe the D3s by then).

Don't worry Lou I haven't forgotten about the D200 ;)

knowing my luck it will more likely be at the wrong time....things like that always are:(

I guess they didn't let you down load pics or anything so we can see the results of your playing

They didn't even let me out of the shop. Not that you'd get far with either lens. The VR has two settings: Normal and Tripod. I think Normal refers to monopod as I don't think I could even contemplate hand holding either lens without an extensive weights program at the gym.

But oh were they sooo nice. Doubt I'll ever come any closer to owning one though:( D3 is definitely on the cards though:)

not funny dm td5, I read the title of your post and thought you had some fun with a D3 disco but no, I was mistaken.:D:D:D. I was hoping for some 4x4 pics of a D3.
