Ok I am Looking at replacing coils in 2001 D2 TD5 with an approx 40/50mm lift

lift isnt the reason for the change but thought might as well have some improved clearance as well !!

Any spring rate and brand recommendations out there???

for a TD5 with steel ARB Bar on front ( front has dropped 15mm from original specs) no second battery etc

Coil Rear... and does tow a 2 tonne boat regularily - stability when towing is important more important that daily drive ride

sounds like 200lb fronts??
300Lb rear?? perhaps 320Lb ??

was thinking Kings but open to suggestions

appreciate comments before I buy

do I get constant rate or variable rate for rear coils ??

spoke to Shane at Suspension Stuff but need some guidance

shocks for coil rear TD5 ??

cheers

Nobby :)

I did post this in DII Rear spring change thread but no responses and I want to buy them soon!

Your suggest rates are pretty much on the money. The King Springs are lighter than those rates however. I'm not sure what Shanes spring rates are but these would be close with the OME range.

For the rear springs, its variable rates for variable loads, and single rates for single loads. I think OME are 290lb/in linear, 300-340lb/in variable and 360lb/in linear. OME fronts are 180lb/in in the regular rate which may prove too light in the long term and the HD set I understand are now 220lb/in which will be good, but these are designed for a bar and winch.

Thanks Slunnie

sounds like variable rates are the go given boat / no boat use

Shane did say that variable rate coils tend to sag quicker due to the lighter section anyone experienced that ?

I'd suggest

220Lb fronts
300-340 Variable rears...

Will suit nicely...

Had same in vehicle for 8 years, only dropped 5mm after initial settling in that time.

Current springs are same rates but +4" and going great...

Ride greatly depends on Shocks used
