Hi all hope you can help me a bit. I have a friend that has found a 101 forward control. It has not been started in 8/9 years and has been sat out side under a tarp. Sorry I donot have a photo and I have not seen it:(
And I do not know much about 101's . The big question is wot is it worth??? He has been told by the farmer to make a offer,, but what would be the write bull park? I know its hard to say with out a photo, but any help would be good.
The only number he gave me was FL6308 , hope this helps a bit.

G'day DD77,

"What's it worth" threads never seem to be that popular around here. It;s not that we don't like to chat about it, I think it has more to do with a tendancy for folks to have a "claytons" auction by starting with....
What's my XXX worth?. SO if your thread gets deleted don't be upset.

Having said that I reckon, if it hasn't been started/ doesnt go and potentially has lots of other issues I reckon I would be strectched to offer more than a few grand.

But these are unique vehicles - Less than 3000 ever made and only a handful here. The AUS army had a few and these are probably worth a little more.

As you say - very hard to say without more info/pics/numbers/description.

Thanks, I told him to go as far as $3,000. but some one also told him to offer $10,000 and no less??! 101 are not my thing, and I know little to nothing about them.
So any help was grate . I'll see if I can get him to take a photo and I will post it on another thread sometime soon. That will make for better Q&A:)

G'day All, Just thinking outside the square at the moment, if a farmer has it and it has stood for years I would be guessing that it's either a S2A/2B forward control rather than a 101, I could be wrong though LOL watching just out of interest sake/curiosity, cheers Dennis:angel:
ps when these 101's were available just over 20 years ago a mate paid 14K for his, it was in good condition, sadly it isn't anymore:( and no he will not sell it either which drives me mad

I agree with Dinty that there is a good chance that the vehicle is not a 101 but a series 2 FC.

101s in exceptional condition can sell for over $30K, good condition in army livery and registered around $20K, so so condition and running around $15K, good condition for a rebuild and complete but not running $10K and if not complete - a bit of basket case - less than $10K.

Remember there are less than 50 Aust army 101s in Australia and who knows - maybe another 50 elsewhere as well - so there are not many around.

Ok I just got a photo. and chassis number 95900084A It seems it was imported in 1991 from the UK and the paper says it is a 101 ? is it? was a L/H/D but now is a R/H/D.
Any info would be a big help ,
Thanks Dave

Yes it is most definitely a 101. Looks in reasonable condition, but as it is ex-UK and has a steering conversion, maybe worth less than the prices quoted above (check for rust!).

Any chance of getting a bigger photo?

I'll have to try and pop out and see it myself and get some good photos. Its a friends find , not mine:(
It has some papers saying about the steering conversion and about being imported + had a crate of new parts.

Like most landies the most common things to look for are seized and corroded brakes, dodgy electrics and rust in the rear X member. The mechanicals hold up pretty well and standard checks should show up any issues.
