My Front Recovery Points

Well I finally got round to making the brackets for my front recovery points.

They run back to the chassis and are held on with two 10.9 M12 bolts. Made out of 10mm plate and over engineered to buggery :p

I'll let the pics tell the story, but I though it may give some people some ideas

After a good going over with a flap disc on the grinder, a coat of Rust Kill, 2 coats of primer and 4 coats of paint :p

With the Gunnebo Lifting points bolted in and tensioned up (one Jock on the end of a 1/2 Ratchet = 100Nm) :p

All in all I'm pretty happy with how they came up, although the paint on those things is bloody bright :cool:

Thats the plan :) with all these stories of recovery points letting go I wasn't taking any chances :(

Well when I get the two rear ones mounted up on the custom bar (still to come) technically I should be able to lift it with these. Safely :twisted: not that its going to be lifted anywhere mind, except maybe on the boat to be taken to Africa one day ...... :D

going by the photos you fitted a pin at the end of the plares where the shacke is mounted.

What it is the certified breaking point of the pin?
A rigger eye bolt to hold a 4 tons shacke have to have thread larger the 50 mm for that reason manufacturer fabricate flat plates like the ones on the Disco.

Manufacturers specifations say the thread needs to be 16mm thick, mine are only 10mm. I'm planning on getting some 16mm nuts and putting them on the back with Loctite

I don't reckon they will break very easily

not having seen these in the flesh......but is there supposed to be a nut and washer on the inside of the bar, i'm guessing 10mm plate would not be a thick as a 12mm nut

a bit hard to tell from the pics but i guessing you have tapped the 10mm plate

other than that it looks pretty solid

i'm in the same vote as you, i knocked up a winch cradle for my pto and tried to over engineer it as well

Thank mate I was looking on the gear that the riggers are using with a rate of 8 tons HERE (http://www.activelifting.com.au/Rud/boltOn.htm#aVRS) and the thread is very big!

The thread on the recovery points in M16 and the two bolts through the chassis are M12
