I have a two piece GME UHF in my D1. I have mounted the main unit which has the speaker in it under steering column inside the area where the fuses are.
My problem here is that as I am getting on a bit the old hearing ain't what it used to be and I have trouble hearing it.
So I want to mount an extension speaker somewhere. Anyone done this and what type of speaker used.
I have an idea if I could get a speaker small enough to maybe mount it in the plastic panel in the roof rear of the interior light.
Until recently I used to drive a Kenworth and it had an extension speaker in the side near right shoulder. This was great as I could hear it easy

Dave, if I can find it I have a GME external speaker stashed away in a cupboard. I'm still getting over returning to gove and unpacking but if I find it and you want it, I'll send it down as I have no need for the thing.

Thanks Derek,
Where did you have it mounted?
Would it not cost more in freight than a new one?
Dave.

My RRc has an ashtray on the console behind the auto selector. I pulled the guts out of the ashtray and mounted it in there. Only open when using the CB so no visual impact. Regards Philip A

Never been used. Would probably only cost $5-$10 to post.

i'v been thinking of making up a gismo to fit over the head rest with a speaker for my gps and run the wires down the back of the seat inside the seat covers and under the seat and under the mat and just have the cable rolled up and sitting near the hi low range stick then just plug it in the gps when i want to use it , i have an rrc 85

Not sure about the D1 but had a remote speaker just behind my right ear for the CB. THis was great as could also set the volume so as not annoy others.

I was experiancing the same problem in my Defender so I installed a small speaker in the side of the roof lining up near my ear.
It is much easier to hear this than it is to put a speaker on the dash board.
The Discovery has two speakers on the dash. One for the VHF and the other for the Garmin sat nav. The Defender solution was far the better of the two though.

Dave,
If Derek can't find his speaker, I have a spare that you are welcome to. It's an NEC, but exactly the same as the GME. Dimensions excluding the bracket are approx' 110w x 65h x 55d
Cheers, Murray
