Hi,
well I put in the paper work a week ago - 50 days to go (so who's counting).
What will it be like - not having to get up and go to work?
Not having to worry about admin and tech things that I'm fast loosing interest in?
I will be able to plan some of my long term projects that I can work on every day (or as I choose) - how good will that be?

Guess I will have to be a bit disciplined and plan the order of what I have to, need to, want to and would like to do, and mix and match a bit so life is not all beer and skittles.

Sort of like an never ending (well it will end eventually) leave and a long sort of unplanned trip.

Any others planning the same, or been there and done that?

Tips/tricks, advice, recommendations, thoughts etc?

cheers

Getting used to it depends in how big it is going to be your drop of income and how simple life are you prepared to have.
if you are not a compulsory gadget buyer and like to have a simple life then it is easy step, I have done it by force ;)
The first 3 or 4 weeks are easy as long as you adjust your budget to your new income.
The problem is after that if you cannot find a way to entertain yourself or what you would like to do requires bib money.
I love to read about adventurers that go touring to different countries with an old series 3 LR and enjoy the trip as much as the ones with over $100000 rig.
Plan your future and go for it. Life begins after retirement :)

PS: I hope that you understand my spanglish :D

Mate, retirement is great.
Keep active, keep exercised, and keep the Landy ready to go at the drop of a hat. Remember that it is all just up the road or over the way a bit.
You dont need to plan it, if it's a nice day or month, just do it.

I usually get up around 9am after Betty tells me that I am okay and not dead. Then after I have seen to the Chicken and gotten Her breakfast,
I will wander around and see what I can put off untill tomorrow. It's surprising how much you can find !!

Make the most of it and enjoy it.:)

I've been retired for about 10 years now, apart from the fact that I own a Range Rover it's been great.
About to return the Rangie to the end of the driveway (where it seems to feel very comfortable) and go sailing for a couple of months.
Retirement....I love it...I love it. :D
