LED Lights on Trailers

Hi.. New to this site. I have recently purchased a camper trailer which has LED lights. I have an 09 model Disco 3. When I hooked up the trailer, the led lights continously flashed, even with the accessories OFF. I believe this is caused by a difference in load of ampage etc with led's. Land Rover sell what is called a Pulse Shunt Kit which costs approx $360 which fixes this problem. I'm wondering if anyone else has found a cheaper option, other than changing the lights to a normal bulb config. Cheers.... :confused:

Try connecting a (say) normal indicator bulb across the led indicator, this should increase the Amps to a 'normal' load.
Try that indicator.
If this solves the problem, you can make up some dummy loads for the other lights, but I suspect some one will come up with a more elegant solution.

In the UK they sell a four prong relay that is designed to work with LED’s I think it works out at about $A60 delivered.

In Australia you can only get the three prong relays. The missing prong (pilot) is what is used to light up the trailer attached symbol on the dash. Navara $40 Ebay $10.

Can not say I have come across this problem. Have put some LEDs on trailers and not found it an issue but have not towed these trailers with a LR either. Maybe LR specific.
Good question for Drivesafe or someone similar.

It is D3 and RRS specific.

The system sends a short pulse through the wiring as a bulb check. LEDs react so fast that they flash, ordinary bulbs don't.

AFAIK this occurs on CANBUS systems ie multiplexed, where the wiring is a network which is polled by the BECM ( hence the pulse) . There is no 12v wire that runs directly to lights as in "old fashioned" systems.

The only fix is Drivesafe's black box .

BTW noone could get a wired car kit to work in my daughters X Trail as you could hear this tick tick all the time. CANBUS is great isn't it.
