I've recently noticed a few posts about tight and/or broken cables.
I'm not sure if many people are aware of cable lubers, they don't seem to be associated with cars often, so I thought I would share.

The cable luber is a little device I've used for many years on motorbikes, but can equally be used on any small sheathed cable: accelerator cable, bonnet cable etc.
They work a treat in loosening tight cables and keeping them smooth.

Below is the exact one I have, which came from a motorbike shop.

You don't need to remove the cable fully, you just need to be able to access one end of the sheathed part.
Simply push the luber over the end sheathed part and slide it hard up against the end of the sheath.
Tighten up the bolt on the luber.
Spray into the hole closest to the end of the sheath with your choice of lubricant - CRC/WD40/INOX/RP7 etc.
Keep spraying and checking the other end of the cable until drops of lubricant can be seen dripping out.
Move the cable back and forth a bit.
Viola - your cable is smooth again!

I hope this helps someone. :)
