I have one of those plastic army water jerry cans, and the lids have gone all crumbly. Does anyone one know where i might get some new ones. The colour doesn't matter. I have heard that the lids of the yellow versions fit.
I have searched the net and the local camping shops but haven't found anything.

Cheers,
Dan.

the lids off of some fuel safe jerries fit as do some of the ones with the inverted funnel and sealing plate. The idea being that you cant mix up a fuel lid with a water lid.

That only applies to the large side.

The small side you can butcher the lid from a coke bottle onto.

Personally I just slide some glad wrap/plastic over them and secure it with an elastic band as a temp measure.

That was used for other things in the army too, or so I heard ;)

yep it was great at keeping the water out of the grenade smoke dischargers when the rubber caps got to deteriorated to keep in place.

I have two ex mil plastic jerrys with same problem (C'mon use UV stabilised plastic boys!!!)

There are some almost exact replica style ones in green for sale via disposals shops, 22l jerry can with water printed on side and has NSN number stamped in... about $30 from memory...(Ohh these are brand new)
