My son is hanging out for COD 6 and can't stop talking about it. He's only 13 but is a master at the COD series.
He plays under the username MrJiggles.
He has been 'skinning' his own guns lately. Here are some screenshots and video he has been working on. Check out the AUSCAM Dragunov sniper rifle in the video.

Pre-ordered a copy a while ago from EB, hanging out for that call :D
I play on PC so couldn't get it, but has anyone preordered the Prestige Edition, complete with night vision goggles? :o

Is world at war the COD2 sequel eg Japan etc ?
Whats wrong with it ?

2nd November 2009, 01:53 PM
World at War still follows on from the WW2 scene...
It was nowhere near as good as Modern Warfare (1st non-WW2 CoD) as Infinty Ward didn't develop it. It's not a bad game, just nowhere near as detailed and smooth as it had big boots to fill. Quite violent though in comparison to Modern Warfare.

I like COD2 so I s'pose World at War would be something else I'd enjoy ?
Anyone got a surplus PC copy they want to offload ?

I reckon it is worth a play for sure, it just paled in comparison to Modern Warfare. You may find a torrent to help you out somewhere if you aren't adverse to that kind of thing..

these games take themselves VERY seriously,,
not one "COOL!" moment.:(
7 out of ten.

I must say i gave COD4 a hands-down 9.5 out of ten when i first played it, absolutely blew me away. Got it with a bundle when first got a PS3, started playing at 6pm that night, couldnt put it down until i finished at 6am the next day.
Hey Vlad keep an eye on ebay they come through fairly regularly there at good prices. Sometimes brand spankers as well.

series 3 yeah I might have to do that, considering that I might have THEORETICALLY downloaded 5.5Gb of torrent, destroying my monthly allowance to a fair degree, and then after installation finding it doesn't work - continually giving me the "Needs to shut down.. send a error report to microsoft etc" message ! aaaaarrrrrrrgggggghhhhhhhh

I got COD4 and played it numerous time. Tried playing the levels differently, trying a different tack and sometimes worked other didnt.
So what is the diff between 4 and 6? Is it graphics only, or is the game smarter?
Played online a few times, got my butt well and trully kicked... obviously not good at these like the youn' ones.

It's a completely new game...new story and characters (follows on from cod4 though).
I have only played it for a couple of hours, very impressive. Everything is the same as cod4, except just a little bit better. Probably 2-3 times as many weapons available. Wow I really sound like a nerd, maybe my girlfriend is right!
There is one mission that is particularly grisly and almost sickening to play.. a lot of people are up in arms about it so they built in an option at the start if you wanted to skip the mission entirely or not

finished single player on PC the other day.
absolutely LOVED it! storyline and characters continue on from CoD4, i got to the end and felt like i'd just watched an awesome action movie :D
BUT, multiplayer on PC...dont get me started. In short, if you're buying it on PC to play online, forget about it. 9 times out of 10 it's simply unplayable with their new P2P system, and there's NOTHING you can do about it...
It's uber geeky, but i'm absolutely devastated. I've loved playing COD online since the original, and now it's all gone :( Infinity Ward's attempt to prevent hacking and piracy and ruined the game and, ironically, is losing them massive amounts of sales anyway...

4, 5 & 6 all have their pros and cons...I have all 3 and play each for varying reasons.
6 is a bit of an unpolished diamond online (only got the xbox to comment about btw), and I expect to see some updates being put out very soon. Some of the 'perks' are a bit lame like Commando (you can stab someone from metres away), and the Heartbeat sensor weapon fitment is being abused heavily and is akin to cheating. A lot of people are camping out with scoped weapons, getting the kills up and bringing in air-artillery, which has spoiled the experience somewhat.
Having said that, there are many things to love about the game, with some perks and weapons being incredibly fun/useful. Some of the maps are a bit the same, but have their own personality and have some good 'kill-zones' if you know how to approach them correctly. Find yourself a few mates who play it as well, use your headset mic to co-ordinate things and call out threats, n you'll be reaping heavy rewards immediately. :D

Modern Warfare 2 breaks sales record

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 blasted past $US300 million ($325 million) in sales on its opening day, blowing away even Hollywood films to become the highest-grossing entertainment launch ever.
MW2 sold 4.7 million copies and racked up $US310 million in sales in the United States and Britain alone when the eagerly-anticipated title from Infinity Ward Studio made its worldwide debut on Tuesday (local time).
The videogame even bested Batman film The Dark Knight, which holds the record for the top opening weekend ever by taking in $US158.4 million in July 2008.
"The Call of Duty franchise has become a cultural phenomenon showing the power of videogames as an entertainment medium," said publisher Activision's chief executive Mike Griffith.
MW2 is the sixth title in the Call Of Duty franchise, which has won a devoted following since the first version was released in 2003.
Reviewers have praised MW2 for its game play options and vivid graphics.
Players can fight alone or one another, whether they are using the same console or in separate locations and connected via the internet.
"Fire it up on a new LCD or plasma HDTV and it's all but guaranteed to make the neighbours' jaws drop," said Scott Steinberg of videogame and gadget website Digital Trends.
"It's designed to be as much of a breathlessly cinematic experience as simple run-n-gun outing," he added.
In Australia, the game is rated for people aged 15 or older and it has stirred a bit of controversy for depicting realistically brutal terrorist encounters.
Players join a global military task force taking on ultranationalist Russian terrorists in order to save the world. Settings include Russia, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, and Brazil.

For me at least, I prefer 4 and 6 as single player games, and 5 for online multiplayer. Don't really like the online playability of 4 and 6 for some reason. Guess it's the different developers between 4/6 and 5.
And if you're online playing 5, I'm "brennobm".
Maybe all of us here should have [ALRO] as our clan tags!!!

Hey guys,, just wondering if you can offer some help for a mate of mine,,
He bought this new game to use on his laptop, "Ghost Recon, Advanced Warfighter" 2.
Now the problem he has also bought a joystick controller with it, (handheld thing) but cant get it to work on the game. The joystick has been calibrated and works, but the game wont let him swap from keypad to joystick. He's been into options etc, but theres nothing there to effect the change over.
Any help greatly appriciated,,,:)

Hey Chops,
It doesn't look like the joystick can be used for this game. See HERE. (http://ghostrecon.uk.ubi.com/graw2/info/sysreq.php)
I'm no PC guru though, so someone may have a different answer.

consoles are good coz you get to play on a much bigger screen (compared to ya average 19-24" PC screen) and they're cheaper to purchase initially. I.e. PS3 for $500~ that'll play MW2. to get a new PC to play MW2 nicely, probably starting around $1000 for a basic setup.
However, there's one advantage of PC's that will always outweigh all console advantages... :p

Had a go yesterday at COD6 at a friends place - all I can say is wow
Love it, graphics, as mentioned here, have improved and so has the mechanics of human engineering (ie: soldiers movements are very good).
Had a go at the 'bloodbath' shopping centre scene... full on of course, I didnt mind it really (after all, its only a game!)

Suprisingly I thought the ending was too simple, too easy. More like a story line with a few moves, but thats it.
Anyone complete the Special Ops sections yet? Some are damn difficult, although I now have added cheat codes in (God and Ammo) to help out when I had enough.

try gaming like a Uni student. turn on at 11pm, play through till 3am-ish. just need headphones :p
COD 7 has also been announced. will be Vietnam based. however developed by Treyarch, not Infinity Ward. Treyarch did World At War which was more than dissapointing (my opinion!)
