Tacho set up on v8 110

Anyone

Can you let me know how to set a tacho (VDO) on a 110 county carb v8, runs on gas. When i connect the tacho via a wire off the coil the car wont turn over at all.

Any idea's?

Is it meant to connect to the coil or to the alternator? The (original LR) one in my RRC connects to one of the AC phases in the alternator.

I have had a tacho fitted to my v8 for a while.. I now have a digital tacho running and its hooked up to the coil...

Bit of a wierd problem you have got there.... Which side of the coil do you have it connected to?...

When you say " wont turn over " do you mean it will try and start but wont fire or just wont crank at all????
