Hi all,
thinking of changing my trailer lights to LED. Will these work ok on the D2 or are there some gremlins one needs to be aware of?
Cheers

As far as I'm aware, it's only the D3 that has a problem with LEDs, I too have been contemplating this myself, there is a how to by Drivesafe on changing to LEDs on here somewhere for the D2.

LEDs draw less current, unsufficient for the D2 circuit to detect that a trailer is hooked up. The only down side is that the dash light to tell you that the trailer lights are working (green trailer picture flashes together with blinker) will no longer come on with the blinkers.

Well that's a contradiction to the fitting of a bullbar, when fitting a bullbar you must use a low wattage bulb in the bullbar indicator lights so the trailer indicator on the dash still works:angel:
So I'm I wrong in thinking the low wattage of an LED wouldn't do what you say:confused:

On a bullbar if you use LEDs or low wattage bulbs it will not trigger the circuit that is used to light up the little trailer symbol on your dash. If you use normal blinker bulbs in your bull bar your car will think that it is towing a trailer and the dash symbol will flash with your blinkers.
I don't see how that is a contradiction:confused:

To make the trailer tell-tail work on the dash you must put resistors in both flasher circuts on the trailer.
The B in L did mine for me on the c/van when I upgraded. Unfortunately he is touring around Vic. at the moment, so cannot give you the resistor values.

I would not worry about it. The LEDs are not as likely to fail as globes so don't need the tell-tail as much. Broken wires is still a possible failure mechanism, but hey the tell tale does not tell you if your brake or parker lights are working so you have to check them any way.

Hey slug did you have a bad day or something?
A couple of .blokes said it couldn't be done
I did it to prove that it could. I was upgrading anyway because the original lights were buggered.
