Took my new Disco on it's first family outing with the camper trailer for a week down the coast at Kiama.
Great week away topped off with the Disco towing the trailer (900 kgs) easily up and down the coast. Very happy with economy and power. Although had to crawl up the Bulli Pass at 60kph in 3rd gear, but only on the initial bit.
I wasn't sure how hard I can push the engine so took it pretty easy.
I'm amazed at the difference between 1st and 2nd gear ..... there's absolutely no power or torque when you change between the 2. How hard do other Td5 manual owners push 1st gear?

Havn't done any heavy towing with mine yet but I like the way the owners manual says use LOW range to start moving when towing heavy loads
That would be fun in traffic on a hill;)
Looks like a top camp site, what was your fuel consumption?
Cheers, Kyle.

Fuel consumption ? Not entirely accurate but did around 400 kms on half a tank.

I don't work mine hard in 1st gear but sometimes need to get the revs up to about 3500 on light throttle to make sure 2nd has a chance to pull properly.

I sometimes slip it into low range when crawling in slow traffic. It would be interesting shifting from low to high with 2ton in tow up an incline. Something to practice I would think first.

I have larger tyres on mine, I have had to use low range when stopped on a slope at traffic lights, tried a range change:eek: but with 1.3ton on the back, it didn't work:(
I push the revs to 3000rpm before going to second, that's usually enough.
BTW 3rd up Bulli Pass is pretty dam good, I'm back to 2nd all the way, and 3rd going up Ousley.
