Hi Guys

My 1986 110 seems to ride higher than Defenders that I have seen. I'm trying to determine if it has a lift or not so I can get some new shocks for it but the sites that I've found which list the distance between the axle and the bump stops have not have 1986 Isuzu's listed... and for some reason I think I've read / heard around the place the the 110 / County was actually higher..

Also (and this is what got me thinking it had a lift in the first place) is that the bump stop 'thingys' on the front axle are tilted forward relative to the rubber stops above.. but obviously the springs etc are aligned.

Is this normal? Could it be the cause of my steering vuageness?

Thanks
Flagg.

I can measure my Isuzu County front bumpstop clearance, its got a recent 2" lift.
Past my bedtime now, but I can post it up tomorrow.:)

Haynes manual says overall height for a 110 station wagon is 2035 to 2079mm. Land Rover owner's manual says 2035mm.

Mine is about 2079mm. I have heights from three Perentie wagon format 110s and they are all about this height two with OEM springs. Another forum member has Lovell springs in his County 110 and it sits about 2040mm from memory.

The Land Rover brochure for the current Defender says it is 2021mm overall height.

I find mine it tall for getting in and out, but extra height is good when going through water especially.

Australian civilian isuzu powered 110s had a 1 inch lift when the left the factory. If you look at the front bump stops you will see they have been spaced down 1 inch. However nothing else was changed and they use standard length shock absorbers.
I removed the 1" spacer on mine with no problems. (checked sump cleareance first).
Some defenders had rising rate springs which may have been more prone to sag that normal.

When they say "overall height", do they mean from the ground to the high part of the roof, ie the rear?

I just measured mine and its sitting at 2130mm..... I'm pretty sure mines just a 2" lift in the rear....

Yes so original ride height of 2079+ 50mm( 2 in lift) = 2130 Remember it is a 2 inch lift from the ORIGINAL ride height not the height the springs have sagged to over a decade or more.
