I do believe that's a great idea , we all use the place so we should help to keep it clean.

Also it might be private property and the owners don't want people all over it? Your pool might be nice to swim in, doesn't mean everybody can walk through your house and swim there.

Depends on who organises it with whom. I have done a few "clean ups" back in sydney and the club got nothing in return. Unless its a 4wd park or Fraser etc I dont offer my help.

I think its a good idea in principle....but something glaring in the post on 4WD Action is who to contact about it. Personally I don't have a clue and have always understood that 4bies going in there has been "tolerated" as opposed to allowed to. What parts are Private Property...what isn't...no one seems to really know,

Access mate.
I have seen this happen before. years ago 200 odd 4x4's cleaned up Menai in Sydney. We pulled out over 100 wrecks and tonnes of rubbish. Not long after the area was locked up and access was restricted. great way to get a free clean up hey. No one even knows who really owns certain parts of Ormeau let alone if access will be granted in the future for clubs etc.
Unless the club gets something in writing from the actual owners dont waste your time or vehicle.

Thats my soapbox moment

i don't think any of you are seeing the whole picture here.
i do agree with justin, there is no win for 4wd'ing in this case.
those of you that have been going to ormeau for a while, like several years, may have noticed that there is a large quarry basically on three sides of the area.
this has been growing and as the quarry takes up their lease the 'forest' diminishes.
we cannot change this, the decision to quarry this area was made long ago, and as the quarry company move closer to an area they erect their 'private property' signs.
the whole area [as i believe] has been set aside for quarrying.
as the closest area for 'free' 4wd'ing to the gold coast and southern bris vegas this area has attracted huge numbers or cars.
the quarry tried to close off some of the area a couple of years ago, and eventually gave in to the continual attacks from the 4wd'ing mobs.
as i hear now the signs have gone up and i presume they mave moved more rocks in to prevent access.
men, as much as ormeau has been a great local spot to go, we don't own it, and cannot use the 'clean it up for all' as an excuse to let us in to play.
and for the 'clean up' followers, the quarry bosses are welcoming your efforts, it saves them cleaning it up before they quarry it.
for those thinking we would be righting the wrongs of other 4wd'ers, no, the wrecks and crap at ormeau are mostly from car thieves.
that's my two bobs worth.
i have enjoyed ormeau, but it isn't ours.

No, Not correct.

The main dusty road is a gazetted and marked road. Hence no one can stop you from driving a registered vehicle from upper ormeau road to vennor drive, cliff barons or shaws pocket road via tghe roads mentioned below.

The roads are labeled - Norbury road (starts off at upper ormeau road) this joins to the ridge track, which you can exit onto shaws pocket road, harts road (more dirt road), or cliff barrons road and you can continue along the ridge road to vennor drive (water tower entry/exit).

Some years ago i did some research and discovered that a lot of ormeau (mainly up the water tower entry) belonged to an elderly male living in the USA (sadly, he is most likely now deceased).

The only real troubled resident is the guy whom owns the last house before you get to Norbury road, he is the one who erected the barb wire fence initially as all the jump ups of norbury road and in the creek were part of his property.

I just thought I would clear that up, as it seems a lot of people don't realise the fact that the roads are legally alowd to be traversed.

It's when you head off the roads listed above that you are in effect riding the gutter :D
There are afew unlabeled roads that have me puzzled. Such as the ones off norbury road now have trespassing signs on what I beleive is part of the not yet labeled roads.

I will do a touch more research and find out just how much now belongs to the quarry and hopefully find out what the deal is with the newly established trespassing signs.

Cheers
Grimace

p.s. its late, i am goin to bed!

well both sides of Norbury road are now owned by the quarry. The MCu was put forward along with an extension for time in 2007 and was passed in april 09.

Real shame cause all the lower mid and upper creek tracks are found here.

Everything else remains the same as always, so you can still drive through the place just all the tracks off Norbury road are classifiead as extraction/mining hence the beginning of the trespassing signs.

This time I am actually goin to bed.

Great research ECT Grimace.
Harry is still correct.
Simple fact is the owner of the land....... (Quarry Owners) could give 2 ****s" who does what to there property.
The only problem arises from people getting hurt as a result of the activities involved.
This is the absolute reason behind the latest display of signs.
Like it or not...... we all have to pay for the minority of ****wits on the Planet.
Sad but true..
