Safari are busy working on a snorkel which will be released on the first thursday in april next year.

I think I'd be a fool to buy the first one on sale.

Funny, that 110 in the background looks awfully like the one owned by Son of Bundalene!

A big thumbs up to Andy for his precision adjustments to the ARB product on my car.

Now why won't ARB do this!

Thanks to Peacey for the inspiration and Paul i know you want a winch bar :)

Paul's got a HardRange bullbar which can easily take a winch.

Yes, quite! :o:):) Looks awfully like a D2 bullbar to me.

Nice job tho!

I asked ARB if they'd make or modify a bar to suit a RR Classic.

They weren't particularly polite.

Remy

I didn't think Paul's HRA bar was a winch bar but yes it could be modified to take a winch! Certainly HRA make a winch one and a full bar. I prefer the full frontal protection of the ARB but that is all ones viewpoint and didn't want to pay the going rate for a HRA bar unless i could get it at the price you got yours Willem!

I gotta admit that D2 bar looks alot nicer than my HRA one.

And you guys are right, my early HRA bar could be modified to take a winch but why bother if the ARB one already has the holes and, I assume, the reinforced backplate?

maybe later...

I reckon there'd be plenty of takers for your HRA bar, Paul!

All the HRA bar requires to mount a winch is the holes cut in the right places. The PO of my bar had a winch mounted on it. The bar is made of 10mm thick alloy!

BTW, how much does an ARB D2 bar cost?

How did you modify the bar and which one did you buy specifically ? I just purchased a perfect low mileage RR P38 I am looking to build up. Any help is greatly appreciated !

You'll need to measure a disco chassis to make sure, but the width of the chassis box sections are the same as a disco, but are 15mm or so taller. The bar itself fits suprisingly well, but the wings won't line up with the wheel arch line.

I know arb have a third bolt going through the hole just under the front body mount on the disco 1. I've done this with my mcc bar but it's a lot of work, making up the chassis hangers and taking the condensor out to fit it.

Any welding will need to be done by a licenced welder and not alter the crush characteristics of the mount if it's too retain it's air bag compliance - thats the info I recieved anyway.

I have just put an arb disco 1 airbag compatible bullbar to my P38, will post a photo when I figure out how, but it only needed the brackets cutting out a bit but it fits almost perfectly.

Please can you elaborate on where and what cuts mods were made

All it took was to cut the top out of the receiver in the bar to let it sit lower, 15 to 20 mm was all it needed, then I just trimmed a little bit off of the end of the brackets, maybe 10 mm, just to give me some wiggle room to get it lined up, then just re drill one hole and a couple of new ones in each side and there you go, took maybe 2 1/2 hours all up, just need to wire the indicators up and it's done ( must get round to that).

If anyone needs any more information please let me know, I will see if I still have photos.

Hopefully there is a picture of the wheel arch, not quite perfect, but I think good enough

I'm across the pond in the US so my P38 is right hand drive . Will this affect me mounting one like you have ? Also I prefer the Sahara Bar , can I mount one of those in the same fashion ?

There didn't seem to be anything right or left hand drive specific so I would say the modification would be the same, I'm afraid I don't know if the Sahara bar has the same fixing brackets but you may be able to Google pictures of the fixings to give you an idea, I wouldn't expect it to be that hard.

Good luck and let us know how you go

Hi
Just came across your post about winch and Bullbar for P38.
I am located in Nattai so not far down to Narellan. Did you purchase the Bullbar locally in Narellan?

I got mine from the market section, was in NSW but the shipping isn't too bad if you shop around, and don't mind how long it takes to get to you.

If you can find a decent used one it's the way to go, cutting into a brand new one might be tougher

I cut into a brand new ARB bar. Two in fact; a D2 deluxe and a D2a Sahara... :p

(and yes, it was painful...)

I just hope it holds up under heavy winching (which was the main reason I fitted the bar).
