View Full Version : A slightly strange request

Hi All,
I won't bore you with the sordid details but I may need a standard Series III centre front seat and backrest. And I may need it only for a few days.
So, esteemed AULROleans, would any of you in SE Qld (preferably between Bne northside to the Sunshine Coast and adjacent hinterland) be willing to loan me seat and back rest, for perhaps a week?
OK, just a few sordid details: Leo the 109 has 2 Defender buckets seats fitted but is still registered as a three-seater. Due to circumstances not completely within our control, his rego expired without us realizing. So he now needs a Safety Certificate for re-registration and needs to be a three-seater again. Otherwise he will need an expensive certification and Qld Transport Mod. Plate for a "seating capacity alteration".
Can anyone help, please? Please PM me if you can.
(Dear Moderators, if this is not the appropriate forum for this query, my pre-emptive apologies.)

A mod plate for change of seating capacity won't cost you much. Maybe $50???

Hmmm, I was given an 'estimate' of $132.00 - seems I should shop around a bit more. But then, in rural SE Qld, maybe I wouldn't have a lot of choice?
In any case, I would prefer to keep it as notionally a three-seater and have the option to drop in a middle seat if/when required. This whole thing seems like a bit of over-the-top, "nanny state" bullsh*t, given the number of massively lifted and over-tyred Loluxes etc. on the roads that nobody does anything about.
For crying out loud, all I've done is replace three old Land Rover seats with two newer Land Rover seats that bolt straight into the same bolt holes! And suddenly I'm a dangerous menace on the roads unless some "Approved Person" gets to rip me off to fill in a form and rivet a blue plate on for me.

Prices may have gone up. Should be a set price for each mod. AFAIK, you need engineering/approval in all states for "permanent" seating capacity changes.
Technically you need one for the 110 seats as well, but who would know they aren't a factory option???

Hi Weeds,
I'd be surprised if they weren't identical. Do you have one available?
Thanks,
Ian

Thanks for the offer, Weeds. I'll see if I can organise something with RobHay first, but if that fails I'll PM you.
Thanks again,
Ian
