RRC Engine removal

After some advice I am in the process of wrecking a 1976 2 door Range Rover.
I only want the engine and gearbox I also only have limited facilities for removal my question is can I take the gearbox and engine out the front as 1 unit?
LT95 is heavy but the engine is relatively light its also a pain to try to get to the bellhousing bolts.

The eng/trans/transfer will all come out through the front but you need a lot of headroom and enough lift high to get the whole shebang out. (ie a forklift or small crane/hoist)

The bell housing bolts are quite easy to access if you drop the trans mount and lower the trans/transfer down and use a couple of long extensions.

I would rather do that than fiddle and fart to get the trans and transfer out out

An alternative is to drop out the front engine mounts and sit the engine on the cradle. This gives enough room to access the top bolts on the bellhousing.

as phillipA said, remove the engine mounts, drop the engine into the chassis rails, undo the bellhousing bolts, pull the engine out, then drop the gear box straight down with a trolley jack.

Thanks for this info guys. Have been thinking of re-coing the mooring block sometime in the future. Has about 400k k's on it atm. Should have done it when I just had the motor sitting bare in the chassis rails a few years ago.

Not having to remove the lower dash, heater, seats and floor to get at these bolts makes it a much more attractive proposition.

Thanks guys just have to get the exhaust system out so I can drop the box.
It has the best extractors I have ever seen probably big enough for LS3 would of made the old 3.5 breathe.
Sadly they wont fit in a Stage 1
