My vacuum pump has a slight oil leak and the cam follower lever is slightly worn in that it is occasionally noisy, until it rotates. Is there any danger in letting this go as BD is not concerned enough at this time to replace the pump. Should I replace now or can I leave it for a later time? Jim

Generally there is no urgency needed to replace the vacuum pump.
The rivets that hold the cover on become loose and the seal leaks.
They can be repaired by drilling out the rivets and replacing with M5 screws and nuts. Drill out one rivet at a time and replace with screw before proceeding to the next rivet.
If the leak persists try the procedure in the project and tutorials section.
