I have a 110 V8 and the ute back has a massive crack in it. I am talking about the rear body section. I can repair it or I was thinking just to replace it with another one. Would a series 3 one fit onto the 110 without much hassle. I realise it has the petrol filler in the side but thats no issue cause I would probably use it for the LPG filler or maybe a water filler or secondary tank. I think I would need to rivet the jack stuff onto the Series one, what about the striker assembly for the door jam and lock striker? For the door seal I guess I could just grind the lip off the body for the seal....
Can anyone see any problems with this?

It can be done - I considered using a Series tub when I converted my 110 wagon to a ute as they are so much cheaper and easier to find than 110 tubs. The other thing to consider is the wheel arches on a series tub will be a bit off in their position over the wheels due the different wheelbases. The flexible guard flaires will disguise this to some extent. In the end, I found a 110 ute tub (ex Defender hardtop) at the right price and it fitted perfectly.

Without seeing your crack:eek:, I'd have a guess that repairing it would be an easier option.......

Hi Mark
I should clarify that the 110 in question is a steel tray model. Its not a styleside body. So the arches won't be an issue...
The crack runs behind the seatbase for about 10 inches or so. I think the cabin was cut down originally and is not the greatest job.

As Mark says, the major problem is the position of the wheel arch - the 110 wheels are about three inches further back. This will probably also cause problems with the locker in the Series tub. Probably not a problem, but also note the blinkers are not in the same position.
I agree with him that repairing the crack is probably easier.

Not clear which part you are talking about. If you are referring to what would be the front 400mm of a tub, the bit the cab back fits on, this is identical as far as I know to the Series 3, although these are fairly rare. On the other hand, if it is an extended cab, the similar bit is custom made, or at least custom modified and there is no direct S3 equivalent. The Series 3 cab back is interchangeable with but not the same as the 110 cab back, although there may be seatbelt mount issues.

Thanks very much John for your help.
There is a Series 3 back on ebay at the moment and I reckon it would be worth persueing as a replacment for mine.
I let you know how I go!
