I have just cut off the stupid towbar wiring plug that LR put in place in the rear guard and replaced it with some decent waterproof plugs that wire the system up a lot nicer.
My question is there are some additional wires that are listed in the Rave manual, but there is no real explanation as to what they may be used for.
The additional wires are one 5mm Purple, 1 3mm purple. Now I believe these are power wires as purple seems to be LR power, but there is no actual power on them.
Then there is a red/orange and red/yellow. One I believe is connected to a diode.
What are they actually for and are they any use to us in Australia?
Cheers

Red/orange is a switched live from the head light lighting switch via a fuse. Same as Red/black wire.

The Red/Yellow one with the diode is a feed for a fog lamp.

The only mention of purple in the wirirng diagram is as a tracer on a green wire and is from the brake circuit.

Green/red and green/white should be indicators.

Black for ground.

This is from TD5 wiring diagram.

I'm fairly sure the purple is an Aux power to the rear from memory. Check if it comes live with the ignition on.

Derek,

I think you're right with the purple wire. Just had a look in the wiring diagram and the accessory socket is indeed purple. Didn't know this wire was anywhere near the trailer socket though. It should be behind the light clusters in the rear cabin with the trailer socket under the wheel arch.

There may also be a green/brown wire there somewhere then which comes from the reverse switch?
