While I'm waiting for the DX GPS units to arrive (as recommended by Ranga) I gave in to temptation and bought a Kenwood KVT-534DVD stereo with the GPS add-on unit.

I've described it a bit more over at this thread

The GPS unit uses Garmin software (Street Navigator?) and POI's. While searching for POI's on the web last night, I stumbled upon http://www.gps-data-team.com (http://www.gps-data-team.com/) and paid the princely sum of $20 to access their "members only" area where I was able to download heaps of different POI files, including sounds and bitmaps that can be converted to the Garmin GPI format using the POI Loader application.

So far, I'm pretty impressed with it.

I'd appreciate any tips and tricks or pointers to other useful sites on how to get the most of my Kenwood/Garmin unit.

Cheers, Paul.
