Supposedly relatively easy to construct and needs no external power source to run. eg you could build one to power your house instead of Solar or conventional electricity, or is this another story like Hydrogen on demand machines for your car. I would be interested in peoples comments. Derek

Do you have a link???

Sounds like another one of these "free energy" devices...

hahaha, coughsorry. Must be serious for a moment.

Now. A magnetic energy generator is as simple as a comb and woolly jumper, but not so sure how many jumpers you'd need to power a house.

Used to be popular in the 19th century as a parlour trick. Wind it up touch the electrodes and your hair stands up.

Gurgle it. There are heaps of links and YouTube videos.

Is this the perpetual motion generator?

Aussie invention, that nobody here would buy/support. Ended up selling to the Chinese, I think.

Oh no. It's a real thing. Real hard case too. But of no real practical value because static electricity is, well, static (i.e. it doesn't flow it just discharges pretty much uncontrollably like lightning).

I have to learn to stop replying to these threads. Anyone who believes in perpetual motion, free energy, etc... needs to read:

"Voodoo Science" by Bob Park

then if that doesn't work, go and do 1st year engineering thermodynamics at uni.

Sorry, I just watched the YouTube video. And no, that thing has scam written all over it.

YouTube - FREE ENERGY Home Generator -Zero Point Energy - Off the Grid

What I was referring to was the old parlour trick like the "Wimshurst Generator" here (http://www.resonanceresearch.com/floor_exhibits.html). Scroll nearly to the bottom of the page.

Here is a letter from Australian Skeptics, showing the device has 33% efficiency, based on measurements performed by the inventors. So in other words, you only get 1/3 of the energy out that you put in. It creates nothing.

Sky News, bought to you by the mob who also give us Today Tonight..

You just know its goona be good (for a laugh that is, not so good for news/journalism though).

Although I must give them a bit of credit, at least they did have the 5 second segment at the end where they asked the local uni what they thought.
But still doesn't make up for the 30mins of crap before that (possibly not quite that long but it seemed like etirinity).

MEG's work.....

also known as dynamos..

they use magnets to generate electrical energy.

They also require more energy in as you get back out though ;)

" Energy can neither be created nor destroyed. It can only change forms.

In any process in an isolated system, the total energy remains the same."

Basicly energy is not free, you need to get it from somewhere. I would like to think there was such thing but there is not. The next best thing to a free energy generator is a generator of electricity which gets it power source from an unlimited free supply. There are lots of these around and one day I think we will not have centralised power supply.

My fav is probably tidal, but the big thing in energy has not been invented yet and thats an efficent electric storage device. I think carbon nano tubes and bucky balls will save the day. As soon as these are refined we will have electric cars with 2000km ranges and 10 minute recharge times. We will supply our own homes with electricity with cheap panels on the roof which outlast the life of the house. Its going to be awesome and it cant get here soon enough.

Surely there's a way to harness the time-sucking power of TV.

Yeah, it's called a couch.

Guess, that thread has been torn to shreds. Cheers Derek
