Will be pricing up a set of M8090 competition compound Creepies in 37x12.5.x16 tommorow and as long as the buyer for my 35's comes through at the weekend we should be changing

ETA they will not be used on the road atall.

Beleive me the idea of 40" stickies has crossed my mind many a times, but I think I will be happier with 37" Stickies (hence why I am goin to steal Petes!:D)

p.s. did i mention that petes truck looks horn with the 37s on it! :D

The front axles will be fine but i can almost guarantee the rear drive axle wil snap. Get a set of laminated 2 piece axles. I speak from experiance, I've been running 37 inch super swampers for awhile now. Front axles, cvs, diffs all bullet proof, rear axles bad business. Check out what you can do on a set of 37s with 2 locked diffs.

Sorry have to disagree here. The front axles and cvs will not handle that size tyres. Maybe if you only drive mud and low traction surfaces.

The terrain Pete is looking to attempt will be putting a lot of stress into both axle assemblies, not to mention the added grip of the stickies.

Lets get tech!

I have some concerns about the added traction the stickies will provide, and it is something to take into great consideration, I am talking to you now pete so listen up :).

The stickies by all reports are goin to ad upto 50% more load to your drivetrain  when on high traction surfaces (like the rock at ormeau), I do think they are goin to be sooo cool, but we gonna have to be very careful when binding up on rocks (granted 90% of ormeau wont bind up the drivetrain at all).

Now this may sound like a joke but seriously, they are gonna grip like **** to a blanket (possibly even better). It's going to take a bit of coaching to keep stuff from going bang.

I think the rover CW&P will be your biggest worry, as I know your goin to have upgraded axles and CVs allround.
I didn't want to mention this yesterday cause its just too orsum to even worry about.
But I did think about it a touch more last night, while I lay in bed wide awake over the excitement of maxxis stickies, that maybe you should consider and factor possible crown wheel explosions into the near future (just incase).

p.s. If you get Sticky creepies I'll get sticky Treps. We can play swaps :D

Hey Mate,

My thoughts are pretty much the same as yours. The std Rover axles/cv's as you know are all heading to the spares cupboard as soon as RT get their drop in kit sorted. Keith was saying end of this month so that is getting pretty close now.

I must admit they have done alright as in 5 years+ of running 33s+35's I have only ever broken 1 long rear axle.

As you say next is the cw+p,but I wont fit 4.11's as they will screw up my road use, and I just cannot face that. The current gearing on 33's does my head in.... I keep trying to change up before remembering I am already in 5th (anyone have any figures on how much stronger they are than the 3.54's - I am not convinced that they are that much better - apparently there are also 4.14's however which are supposed to be stronger?) Maybe having the centres pegged may help.

I really want an underdrive but the budget isnt really there for that at the moment, so the 49% transfer case gears may have to be the go.

The main problem for me really is that I still use the car for long trips, (thousands of k's a week for a couple of weeks a year) and I wont run above 33's for that, and shafting the gearing is not a viable option I dont think.

To throw another spanner in I have just found a really good set of 35" krawlers in BNE..... but anyway heading to austyre shortly so will update thread with some prices a bit later.

Pete, I thought the 37's would look stupid but they suit the 90 better that I thought :D. Axle breakage here we come and the std gearing with a td5 should make it an interesting experience too on-road (and off downhills ).

About to join the club too, 35's with std gearing, auto gearbox and a half-knackerd 3.5 EFI with 420+kms on the clock.....should be fun  Would like reduction gears but too $$$ and that means the beer fridge stays empty and I can't have that happen .

The dunga is progessing along slowly (too bloody slow for my liking ). Has no gearbox atm and the ZF/LT230 is on the crane ready to go after I give it a good degrease as it's coverd in crap. I still have to sort the recovery points on the bar and do some 'trimming', fit the bodylift, sort the suspension out, get the tyres and so on and so on. The list seems endless.

Pics up soon on my project thread.

IMHO 37s are beyond Rover gear and their derivatives perhaps with the exception of a Salisbury with more than 1.24 axles. My 37's are a LOOOOOT bigger and a LOOOOOT heavier than my 34/35's.

then throw stickies into the equation. :lol2:

No one spoke english but i am sure i could fit them in my carry on baggage :D Just need to find some economical freight and a few things will be coming back over  Everytime i see something jacked up with expendition stickers all over it i just want to hit the jungle.......maybe Monday ;) But in an Isuzu Dmax :o

Hi mate,

Yes that would seem to be them.

they definetely used to be available in a sticky as I believe Griamce was offered the option, but Brett phoned Maxxis I think when I was there and they said that they werent available in a sticky anymore.

Wonder if they may be old stock?

I am hopefully going to see a almost new set of 35" Krawlers tommorow, as I do have concerns with running 37's

I am not sure I will be at Coffs.

I checked last week the mob in the US which I have used before. They typically have everything.... all that they had in the Krawler IIRC was 2x 35-15's and nothing else. I guess if they're not easy to get in the US then nobody else in the world will have a chance.
