Yesterday Ringin and I collected our next project - it might be named Jigsaw yet.

We currently have a RRC ute that we are using on club and comp runs - now we have a Series 3 modified on a RRC chassis - in a million pieces. See pic on the trailer.

Stage one is to tidy up the chassis and then we need to find a fire wall and other cab parts - we are going to try and find a defender/county cab - ideally intact - a rolling chassis without running gear - and then merge this with the RRC chassis and running gear and the series tub that is already cut and fitted.

My mate who has had a health scare is also joining us in the project as part of his therapy - after his Op in late Nov he wants to come and play with us out in this ute and have some fun - realized life too short to only work. This will be his re-introduction to Land Rover - had a D1 a few years ago.

Any suggestions on the project welcome from the Defender guys out there - we are sort of joining your club - well half joining :).

What other details on the S3? Looks familiar ;)

Will be another great project by the sounds of it and love these hybrids... good looks of a fender with the capabilities of a rangy... a perfect combo :D

We might need to exchange notes. I am about to embark on a similar project after christmas on my 100" hybrid tomb raider replica.

Have the rangie, a 109 ute donor and 130 tub and a million bits.

Yes Glens old truck - well the top is with a donor rangie base he was starting to set up. Josh and I are taking on the rebuild and the quick dirty way to get maximum parts is to get a Defender to wreck or at least the whole cab.

Min we need a firewall with all parts otherwise we are going to have to build bits and peices together and that will take a lot longer.

We also need the radiator support panel for front.

Rear Tub all sorted - Col you may want to look at the tub and see how Glen shortened it to fit RRC (rear chassis also chopped).

We have to rebuidl the cab and mate up all the controls. Initially will run a 3.5 efi engine.

Coops was talking to me. He has a defender windscreen surround for me to give me a one piece windshield.

As I have been stuck for time, I havn't gone down and collected my parts-mobile from warren yet otherwise I would have brought you your rum.

Do you have an engineer lined up yet Skiboy?

Same here. Last I spoke to him it was still leaf sprung, and he was only thinking about the nissan axle conversion.

What is Glen up to these days???

Hey CC, do you know that a Defender screen wont fit with a Series roof? You will need a defender roof aswell.

No roof on a tomb raider:D

Besides, my roof is on your ute:p

And I know I have to grind the windscreen mounts flush and drill holes in a series 3 firewall to fit it on. Looks like I better start my own thread on Brutus.

im wanting to build a 100'' landy as well. the only thing that is stopping me are all the mesurements for the body mounts and rear section of the chassis..
so far the plan is to..
.. shorten the ex-army 109 wagon by chopping out 10in from behind the b-pillar..
..sort through all my chassis and pick wether to use rangie or disco chassis.. and that is as far as i have made it so far.

and that will be a nice landy when it is finished.
