For many years I was the proud owner of KYM 725, a Tickford series 1 Landrover. I renovated it lovingly over several years which lead me to all sorts of far flung corners of the world. In the early 1970's I found myself in a tiny village in the far northern Yorkshire Dales.

I got talking to a man who ran a Landrover garage.

After a while he told me an interesting story. At that time Landrover used to publicly parade a series 1 they declared as the first production Landrover.

"It isn't" my friend said.
"How do you know?" I asked.
"Look at this."
He opened a filing cabinet drawer and pulled out an old log book very much like my own for KYM 725.
The number was unmistakable 860001.

He told me he had got hold of an old landrover that was pretty well knackered and he sold it to an old farmer who wanted to use it in his quarry. He wasn't going to put it back on the road so he didn't want the logbook so my friend kept it.
Only later, long after the old farmer had taken the vehicle and gone, did he notice the number.
I quizzed him for every bit of detail he could remember but it was a hopeless task.
I pondered the enormity of crawling all around the Far North Western Yorkshire Dales trying to find it, I returned to my own project KYM 725.

So now after all these years I have found good news at this link:
Serie One (http://www.landroverclub.net/Club/HTML/serie1.htm)

Someone managed to find it.

Amazing.

Does anyone know where?

There is a thread on this vehicle in the S1 forum,

Ray, me and JUE (http://www.lrsoc.com/forum/index.php'topic=1122.0)

I had the oppertunity to have a look at her at the 50th.

She is pretty knackered now.
