LT95 Clutch diagram

hi,i would like to ask a question about the master cylinder on the LT95 gear box, I bought a new replacement master and slave clutch cylinders for the gearbox for my 77 classic RR and pulled the old ones off, the lower one on the gearbox was seized and when i pulled it out the arm came out with it from the casing, it had a square type plastic thing attached and was broken, i am not sure if i just push it back in to the place it came from or if I have to replace it, I would like to get a copy of the parts and assembly for it if any one has got a copy

Thats a big oops!!!
The plastic clip holds the pushrod on to the clutch throwout lever within the bellhousing. It should not have come out but stayed in the bellhousing.
You will now not be able to refit the slave cyl AFAIK.
Sorry, but it appears the gearbox has to come out.

I know mine is held in with a hose clamp somehow hope this helps

No problems mate, you dont have to remove the box. Pull the pushrod out of the slave cylinder and check the plastic clip is still ok (it looks ok in the photo). Now feed the pushrod back into the housing and locate it into the fork. You will probably have to use long nosed pliers to hold it but dont push too hard or you will move the clutch fork back further. If it has already moved back get a long piece of wire and bend the end over to make a hook. feed this in and locate over the back of the fork,pull it forward until there is resistance and bend the wire to hold it there. Now put the pushrod back in and hold in position while you use a long screwdriver to locate the plastic clip over the fork. You might have to try this a few times to get it right but it can be done without removing the box................Brian

After having another look at those photos I think the clip is missing one of the lugs that hold it onto the fork. Might have to get a new one. Part number is R576723.

OOOPS not much i could do when it all came out together, is it supposed to have 2 rubber boots??? or has someone been lazy to remove it???? i will have to wait for monday to find the part. will follow your instructions thanks.

Sorry if my post read that it was a mistake on your part!!
Bet you would be saying OOOPS if it happens again:)
& its a single boot.

I can't see any reason why without the clip the pushrod would not stay in position. Many cars have a simillar set up without a clip holding the pushrod.

I wouldnt recommend it, if the pushrod does fall out it could become jammed in the flywheel or worse still find its way into the pressure plate and cause you some real grief, then it is definitely a gearbox removal job also the slave cylinder would probably blow apart first time you pressed the clutch pedal. Then you have real problems. Why not wait and get a new clip...............Brian

theres a few ways around it...

wait for a new clip and then cuta piece of 3/4 inch hose with a T shape on one side so that placing the t shape inside the arms of the clip splays the clip. insert the push rod through the clip and the hose then insert the push rod.

slide a lenght of 1/2 inch copper pipe over the rod and under the hose this will secure the clip in place. push the copper pipe AND the rod forwards and pull the hose backwards IF you do it right the clip will stay in place and hold the rod. carefullly remove the copper pipe.

the plastic clip is not required in service, it is an assembly aid.

yes but you didnt have the preamble about how to fit the said plastic clip.... which after about hour number 4 of trying to put the stinking thing on through the SC hole has you wondering how to do without it or without pulling the gearbox.

and yes, I know one person who got so naff with not being able to put the thing in that he cut the bulge off with an angle grinder fitted the SC and the welded the section hed cut off back in place.

After 12 months with the RRC sitting in the front drive i loaded it up on a mates car trailer and took to his home workshop, he has just recently acquired a car hoist, yaaaa, after about 2 hours of trying we finally broke the leg off one side of the plastic clip, will go get another monday and try again, this time will use a 3/4 plastic pipe and follow instructions as last time was on memory.
