G'day guys,

I'm about to take delivery of a 2004 Disco 2a S 5spd Town Classic (the Mikey Robbins version). I've upgraded (?) from a '97 Disco 1 5spd after 6 years.

One thing I've noticed with the 2a is that the gearshift doesn't centre on 3rd and 4th gears, but on 1st and 2nd. Is this standard, or a problem? If a problem - is it much of an issue to fix.

I've been reading that I need to do an EGR mod and also something about the exhaust. Better get reading again to find them.. wish I had've bookmarked them before - there's so much stuff here it's not funny.

Cheers,

Marty

The gearshift should still centre in the 3rd/4th plane so an investigation of the base of the lever is required.

This sounds like the bias plate has broken for the gear stick. It's a really cheap part and easy to replace. The centre console has to come out but it's an easy enough job. There are good instructions in the RAVE CD.

Cheers, Andy

I'm pretty sure that the gearbox on an 04 is the same as my 00 manual ... and that is that it should sit between 3rd and 4th as Graeme said.....

The EGR removal is certainly worth investigation .... my research suggests that it offers no improvement unless you're planning an ECU upgrade .... and that introduces other issues .... such as over-heating of the engine.

I would make sure you speak with someone who's done it .... of which, there are plenty here.

Good luck!

Cheers
