Hi all,

I've decided to bite the bullet and sell my tired 95 tdi Disco and move over to a later model 3.9l V8 Disco ....

Found a reasonable low KM 98model locally, however upon inspection Ive found that the gearbox mounts appear to be totally shredded. (other than some minor gearbox oil leaks this is all I can find wrong with the vehicle).

The owner informed me that while snatching a patrol out off a bog he ripped the engine from it's mounts ... Im not sure where the strap was attached but I doubt it was the tow ball or chassis ....

He's replaced the engine mounts , fitted new suspension, it has a strong engine, smooth gearbox, drives extremely well, and feels like a new car ( after years in my old TDi....)

Im just slightly concerned about what else may have been damaged after the 'snatch' and the fact that he has driven it ( albeit not to often lately) with broken, or seriously damaged gearbox mounts.

Curious to hear others thoughts on this....

Best Regards

Nat

its not that hard to rip the mounts on the v8s if they are worked up if you shock load them too much..

damage to the chassis would be obvious and any other damage would be to the internals of the drive axles and gearbox, If its still driving nicely then the odds are that they arent fatally destroyed.

providing the fan hasnt met the radiator any additional damage should be easily repaired when the mounts get changed.
