First the failure.

My 96 HSE hasn't got any real problems with the EAS, but I've fitted new bags and thought it was about time to do the valve block and compressor.

I ordered the seal for the compressor from Rover-Renovations but didn't bother with the o ring set as I had collected the ones I needed already. You know 4, 6, and 8 mm.

So out with the block and compressor, put seal in compressor and o rings in block.

Put it all back together and it leaks like sieve!! Bubbles everywhere!

I happened to have 1 o'ring I'd bought from Schupak (Rover-Renovations) left over from when I'd done up my Classic EAS and compared it to my locally bought rings.

Although I would have to say they 'measured' the same, they certainly weren't the same.

So, I'm now awaiting a delivery from the USA.

However, as the Rangie was needed for camping duties last weekend I decided I'd better build myself some emergency valves.

So I purchased some 6mm plastic pnumatic joiners, the ones that you can remove and reuse if necessary. I also liberated 4 tubeless tyre valve stems from some old Alfa wheels I have.

When you remove all the rubber of the valve stem you end up with a brass valve with a 6mm stem that fits nicely into one end of the joiner. I then packed the stem and joiner 'joint' with epoxy metal, let it set, and just for good measure wrapped some pressure amalgamating tape around it as well.

It doesn't look pretty, but kept the bum off the ground all the way to the coast and back.

Nice solution... but we need pics to prove it is not all a lie :p

I think I may have some o-rings left over from my last order from Rover Renovations if you need them in a hurry. Dennis sent a lot more than were actually needed as I recall when I did this little exercise EAS Valve Block Renew PaulP38A.com (http://paulp38a.com/99p38a/eas-valve-block-renew/)

Have added EAS valve block rebuild to the 12-18m "deep maintenance" regime. The non-return valves and the 2 solenoids especially take a hell of a hammering... worth buying a couple of o-ring kits from Dennis, to put away as 'spares' given the current favourable FOREX rate.
