I note that these are present on both sides, c.f. D3 with only one. Are both functional? Hence are 2 snorkels required?!!!

Unless you own the D4 5.0L V8, it uses both.

One is a normal air intake, the other is apparently for 'cooling' - as opposed to 'cool' :cool:

The passenger side one is blanked off. so just cool.
