I have had ongoing battery flat issues for quite some time but havent tracked it down.
Last friday morning, flat battery again, left it on charge till both batteries were full.
Drove the D2 briefly saturday, and 30mins sunday, everything OK Nanocom was showing 14V so still charging.Started it up this morning and the battery light is on,Nanocom showed 11V with motor running.Went to start it after work FLAT again, jump started it 9V with motor running, got it home just, all the warning lights etc on,radio even stopped working every time I touched the brake pedal.
To track the issue recently,I have disconected the trailer brake controler and also pulled the fuse on the UHF and Inverter circuits incase they were the issue. The Deep cycle battery for the Engel is showing 12.6V and is isolated by the Traxide controler due to low main battery voltage.
Im now thinking the alternator is the culprit, charging OK but allowing discharge whilst not running. Is this possible with a "modern" alternator like it was in older alternators?????
HELP PLEASE

Mate has a camper bus, one of those 15 seat converter jobbies. Well for 2 years his start battery has been going flat (huge battery, nearly small dozer size) often over night. 3 autolecies and 2 years later I start looking. Battery load tested fine, clean all terminals as it sounded a bit sluggish turning over. I sugested that he pull the starter and have it service just to check. Well it turns out that the brush holder inside the endcap was shorting. Dont know how but since the starter was serviced there has been no more flat batterys, auto lecie sugusted that it may have been tracking across the arc burns. Just a thought for yours
cheers

There is a thread somewhere on AULRO about stray signals from wireless internet connections or somesuch similar source causing the problem you describe. The problem is caused by the security system thinking it is about to be de-activated - it then remains in standby mode flatening the battery in short order

FWIW

Thanks CHT.
I dont lock my D2 unless its parked down the back shed or out on the street.
Is it possible that the security system stays awake because of this???
We do have wireless internet so perhaps its possible.Anybody else heard of this,I cant recall reading a post on AULRO about it.

IIRC it was wireless energy monitors.....

Can you unplug the alternator and see what happens overnight as compared with leaving it plugged in?
Could be a faulty diode perhap?

Is it possible to track this sort of problem down by putting a multimeter set to amps between the battery terminal and the earth lead, then pulling each fuse in turn to see which circuit is drawing the power?

Check this thread out LandyAndy: http://www.aulro.com/afvb/technical-chatter/80321-flat-battery-2000-rangie-vogue-why-you-will-never-believe-answer.html :D

It may not be your problem, but might prompt some lateral thinking. :p
