I am about to replace the torsion bar bushes on my D2 with ACE. I was reading the RAVE CD and wondering whether I should also replace the bushes for radius arms, panhard rod as well.

So should I replace them as well?

If the radius arm bushes aren't cracked of visibly fatigued i'd leave them. If the pan hard is tight and doesn't wobble around i'd probably leave it as well. But the sway bar mounts are a 5min job and if you're experiencing some knocking of the suspension when cornering and the like then I'd swap them out. Start there first and see how you go, it's worked for me in the past.

Cheers

Just did the sway bar bushes. took me around 45 minutes to do it. it would be much easier if two people doing it instead of one.

Now the car is nice to drive again, especially when cornering and at aroundabout.

Saw a crack on the left ball joint rubber. That will be the next job before it get worse.

Which ball joint? If you mean the CV boot, then I'd be doing it yesterday.

taking it slightly off topic but if i change all the bushes out with new polyurethane ones do you think that i might get that extra poofteenth of flex?

Maybe try just the radius arm ones at the axle end with SuperPro blue polys. I wouldn't bother with any other polys. The others wont affect it.

Slunnie, do have a contact and part numbers for these blue poly's that you speak of and how do you swap them out, do you need a shop press to do it ?

I have a full set of bushes to go in with all the other goodies, the old ones are well and truly shot.

I don't have a contact and can only go on reports from other re the bushes. These can be ordered through supercheap etc.

They will need a shop press to get them out of and into the radius arms, the bush is a press fit. I would expect that a 10T should do it. Out of interest you can also get them with castor correction.
