G'day all:)
On the weekend i broke an axle in my pre-update d1 (10spline diffs) and a mate gave me an early rangie 10spline axle with the different drive flangers.
The drive flange holes are smaller so need drilling out.
My question is, are they the exact same lenght and will they fit with the drive flangers drilled out??
I tried slotting the rangie axle in position but it doesn't seem right, it actually measures 3-5mm longer?
Thanks in advance...TIM.

Tim, Yes they will fit fine BUT a pain to drill out as they are hardened. Diegrinder would work better, unless you know an engineering firm that can bore 10mm holes aith a cobalt or tungsten carbide bit:eek:
I tried it once and after 2 holes 'melted' the drill bit:( 5 more sharpening attempts and the axle was ready. Expensive and drawn out process.

lol:D
Yep same thing, two arvo's spent trying to drill the bloody thing:eek:
1 1/2 holes to go.
Two drill bits broken and many sharpening sessions:angel:, i thought our problam was a combanation of blunt drill bits and hard steal, but by the looks it's not just us!!!!
Looks like i might look around for a a disco 10 spline, easyer...
Thanks JC.
CHEERS TIM.

Perhaps look for 92/93 RRC axles - 10 spline and just a poofteenth different to the earlier ones. Available new, but not cheap like the early ones.
