Well we went to look at a nice defender 110 yesterday.. made an offer told we had a deal. was going to drop a deposit of today of a reasonable 10% after work. Deal was we would let him keep it as long as he needed it. Also that we would get a mechanical check done just as peice of mind. but unless it was anything major we would of definitly bought it.

well just got a call and he has sold it to someone else. I'm Gutted as we were planning on using it over xmas and thought we had things sorted. These things dont come up very often over here.

Make me lose faith in humanity some times..

So if anyone knows of a defender 110 for sale PLEASE let me know... ASAP.

A very very unhappy

Thats just not right, a deal is a deal! When I sold vehicles in the past i always kept my word. If others were interested in the vehicle, then I would put them in line if the original buyer pulled out.

Unfortunately thats the world we live in now.

On a seprate but similar not, last night a bunch of young imbeciles walked past our street and once again snapped the mirror of some other vehicle (not mine this time!!) I got up and went outside (it was 12:30am) but they were a block away.

What years and engine are you looking for and how much do you want to spend?

I'm always on the look so will keep an eye out.

ideally 99 onwards... with a td5 (yes im mad as we have a td5 in the family already!) budget is flexible but not extreme...

will consider older tho... all down to condition etc..

Thanks for that...

Maybe think of buying interstate if you can get someone you trust to check it out. Should only be ~$1500 or less and 1-3 weeks to get it here.

IRC Autotrans charged $1100 to bring my 110 over from brisbane. Offender90 has shipped a 2 landies over - so he may have more info.

Steve,

Sorry. I shoulddn't have posted an advert and tried to cash in on your grief.

I wil post it locally this week when I get around to it.
Good luck in your search.

A good Defender is worth its (substantial) weight in gold).
I am only sorry I dont get an excuse with the better half to drive across the nullabour.

For one as new as you are looking at it should have no issues - especially if you buy from a state where annual RWCs are needed.

Taking an interstate vehicle over the pits is fairly easy. Nobody told me about the immobiliser requirement, and the inspector didn't like the (factory) exhaust exit point (insisted it had to face down... ) - but apart from that no big deal.

Have you thought about flying over to this side, buying vehicle and driving back ??

I remember when I was looking for a dual cab and going round to see all that was available, there was a chap who was always in front of me  looking at the same vehicles.
I eventually found the right vehicle only to be told by the same man he'd just purchased it three minutes previously  As it turned out he'd flown over from Perth to find the right vehicle and was taking a week to drive back. He said the same thing, nothing available locally !!

Hi Steve
I know of a pristine Extreme that WAS up for sale.I last spoke to the owner a few years ago whilst they were in town.It seems they still have it as I got an email from them a couple of weeks ago.
They are a retired couple, the fender is dark blue and Im pretty sure they are from up your bit of Perth.
If its up for sale still its well worth a look.
I will PM you their Email addy, you can ask if its still up for sale.
It will cost you a Dhu Fish excursion if you get it;););)
GOODLUCK

Yep had a brief look and as long as we could take the time off, it wouldnt be an issue.. they seem to turn up in fits and spurts here.. but most we have seen have been as rough as!

I can just see the situation though... you leave and then a guy turns up with a couple of big ones as a a deposit and offers more. That would be a hard one.

Thats because I listed it for him. I was actually going to buy it, but after driving it, got back in my Rangie and it just didnt have the same appeal to me.
He called me to say it had been sold and i asked him if was someone from this ad.
Then i found a PM from Steve....

Personally, I think it was a bit low to do what he did and I did mention it to him, but the guy paid the asking price and had 2K cash on him deposit.
I have missed out on a few things this way by going out and not having the deposit with me. Even $100 and a receipt is enough to secure a sale. Just make sure both parties sign the paper.

Would have like to see it go to an AULRO member.

Keep looking Steve, I'm on the hunt for a TD5 D2 atm, I know how much of an arse it can be!

Cheers

May have a td5 disco for sale soon if Rach gets her own way :(

While shopping around I phoned a bloke and he said the car was sold and the buyer was coming with the rest of the money the next day, but how much was I going to offer and could I get the cash tonight.
I said no and put the phone down.

well Andy is right... We will (hopefully) be picking up the new defender on tuesday... so i guess i do owe a trip :) just need the weather now Andy! been crappy lately for anything...

As for the disco... well... rach has agreed that we keep it for the time being how long that is.... well we'll see. We do have a daewoo lanos for sale tho :) seem to be plenty of disco's around tho... keep your eye on the auctions too as they come up regularly there.... Try pickles, manheim fowles (they do a buy it now) and aberdeen auto auctions, call them tho.. as they have trade auctions but will sell to public by buying off themselves and selling it to you!

so you guys NOR look out for a showroom condition blue defender soon!

I went back 6 times and the bloke was a real arsehole IMHO i even helped him source some door tops for his kids series, he was going on about that the land rover smoked that i needed to cut the bull-bar side steps and brush guards off, he just had it in for me the ****** may his hair turn into drumsticks and bash him to death :o:p

i guess you just cant help some people can you? oh well.. sounds like a jobsworth to me!

Anyway... i have to say im very dissapointed with the defender..

1, its not real noisey and doesnt really have rattles. Its got a bit of tyre / gearbox / diff whine at 100k's+ but thats all... im assuming thats normal? i cant hear anything to do with the car with the stereo on.

2, its comfy even tho i'm 6'1 and over 100kg.. bit tight on right arm space.. but not too bad.

3, Its staying shiney, but thats cause im not using it much!

4, its not slow, and its not chipped yet!

so much for all the stereotype defenders!

hopefully give it a go at towing tomorrow.. over 200k round trip with the boat on. i'll let you know.. and maybe even get some pics on.. :)
