Hello all

I've got the TD5 engine with the EGR cooler fitted. I noticed today that there's a leak coming from the rubber hose which goes into the bottom of the cooler, on the cooler end. It's black coloured stuff that's leaking out, is this oil? not sure where the hose goes to as I didn't have time for a better look. Anyone had this problem, and is it serious?

cheers
Dave

Sorry no pics. I'll have a better look tomorrow but it looked like it was definteley coming from where the hose goes into the cooler, but I thought it was only coolant going in there?

coolant does not go thru the intercooler only hot oily air from the turbo ,did the egr mod recently and and cleaned the intercooler looks like this is on the cards for you, a turbo will always blow a certain amount of oil ,i am told that by keeping a clean air filter helps this not happen as much

Remove your sound shield off the top of the mojo.(leave it off,no louder and it can hide a HEAP of sins!!!!)
On the front of the head there is a round plastic grommet, the O ring that seals this leaks, easy check.

Hi Dave

I have the same setup as you and removed the EGR valve recently using one of Tombie's kits. The fluid that will be leaking from the EGR cooler should be coolant only. I guess check carefully where the other posts have described in case there is oil leaking nearby. But there should be only the red coolant going in at the top and bottom of that cooler via rubber hoses.
