I have finally bought an OBX Daytona fixed back seat, lets hope it gives me the extra inch or two I am after. Now for the steering wheel, is there any after market steering wheel bosses available, original is 14 1/2" and want to go to a 13" wheel? Most regular auto shops just say there is nothing available as soon as you mention Land Rover.

Cheers

Best idea for a steering wheel is to look at the UK sites, there are a number of replacement ones available. Once you know the model you can then probably also price it locally.

Have ordered a Mota-Lita wheel and boss from England. Not a bad proce for a hand made leather wheel. $450 delivered.

Thanks for the tip, now to just off load the Disco.

No problem, pic's would be good when it's installed as I wouldn't mind getting an idea of how it looks.

I've always liked the steering wheel on my 300tdi Defender. It ain't pretty and it's sun damaged (I'd love to source an undamaged one 2nd hand) but it feels good to work with.

What exactly is it that annoyed you about the one in your ute? Just interested.

I got an aftermarket boss from Autobarn to suit classic Rangie. They did have to get it in for me.

Finally all is in and the differenec might not look much but for a 6'5" skinny fella it makes all the difference. And comfortable too.

Sorry, this is going to be one of those "why didn't you mention it before ? " post, but I haven't been on here for a few months, sorry.

Bosses and wheels are available here, Paul/Defender200Tdi bought a complete kit through the Isotta Australia importer in SA.

I have the seat raised 22mm and this helps with long legs, but I'm 3" shorter than you too.

<edit> oops, I see you have a new one, so I suppose the steering column splines are different again to the old ones. BTW, how does the dish including the boss on that wheel compare to the old one ?

The wheel is basically in the same position, just from 16" to 14" makes all the difference. The seat required 2 25X50X475 aluminium flat bars to adapt to the original holes, countersunk etc

Yep, thats what I did. At the time Isotta would not sell directlly to the public, but supplied through Autobarn in Adelaide. Had one for the Defender on the shelf, but be aware there are about three different types so you will have to know how many splines yours is. It did need a little bit of trimming of the shroud on the steering colum lip to fit perfectlly but was easy and I fitted a Autotechnica wheel.

Hey mate pretty sure I passed you the other day near Westbury

I was in the work ute but that Defender of yours looks pretty nice

Is that a genuine canopy?

That would have been me on the way to work. Yep, the canopy is from factory, all HCPU's and the crew cab ute's come with them. Its a bit of a loose fit but does the job anyway.
