Got a problem with the drivers window. It isn't stopping when it reaches the bottom, Motor still whirring and a clicking noise.
Any ideas, before I start breaking plastic clips to have a look ? Ive done a search, but nothing on D2's.

Also, I hadn't notice how much the window frame flexes during use. Or is this part of the problem?

I'm not sure if it is part of the problem, my front windows at least flex alot too, I just figured that alot of the strength in the door came with the glass of the window.

mine does it too, took it apart and it the mechanism wears at the end of the travel and the gears slip so the motor doesn't realise its at end of travel, i temporarily fixed it by putting a 1" block of wood on the bottom of the door inside the panel so the bottom window track comes down against that, the motor sees a resistance and stops trying to wind down. already replaced that side mechanism before so not going to bother doing it again until it fails totally now.

also theres plastic runners in the mechanism that wear out that cause excess play in the mechanism.

dont fall for buying a cheap after market replacement mechanism either they will last about 4 months if you are lucky.

My D1 did this and when I took the regulator out I found it was running off the winder cog as the teeth had worn. New regulator fixed it. They are the same units in the D2.

Thanks Guys, that's the sort of info I was hoping for. Didn't want to remove it and have it fall apart. Although the block of wood is a good idea. I'd done that with a Pajero to hold the glass in place while I waited for parts. Must be getting old not to remember that trick. :wheelchair:

Hi Mine did simular then tore the spot welds apart that holds it all togeather. Pulled apart easy and drilled out the old spot welds repostioned the parts and rewelded. Good as new so far.

Did the same with mine but the rewelded unit lasted about a month. New regulator now installed. Problem though the new regulator didn't have stops at the end of the gears so, instead of a block of wood, I have added a couple of rubber stops inside the bottom of the door. Works a treat.

Thanks Andrew, if you could post some pictures that would be useful. Not much info on here about the D2 windows, so it will help others.
