Was just south of Port Hedland overtaking a Pootrol at 110kph+ and car decided to shutdown with alarms going off telling me limited selection of transmission gears available and vehicle was lowering and had complete power loss, all while overtaking. The bloke I was overtaking would not let me back in despite indicators, maybe he thought I was mucking about but I had to pull up on the opposite side of the road. I shut the car down, locked it/unlocked and restarted and carried on, this happened again and upon calling LandRover , they wanted to put it on a truck and take to a dealer - out there ? dream on, all the people at LandRover care think we all live in Melbourne. When I got to the best LandRover service department in Western Australia, Albany, nearly 2000 kms away, they found a low fuel pressure fault recorded. The vehicle had it's 48,000km service done as it was due but I would recommend after this to replace the Fuel filter at the every 36,000km service. In Europe the Diesel is higher quality so they may not have the problem as the stuff we get here, I only buy fuel at BP or Caltex. I have had the D3 lower itself in the past onto the tyres with another fault and for this to happen at speed would of been exciting to say the least. The engineer who wrote the software to lower the car for all these faults needs a bloody nose and the sack. I am amazed LandRover tempt a court case for the accident this would cause. I am also quite sure it is the same engineer who said the LandRover supplied jack is suitable for the D3.

Just a few questions if I may:

Was it a blocked fuel filter then? or the HP pump?

If it dropped to access due to a fuel fault, didn't it also cut the throttle? Where's the danger? Did the pootrol drive slow down as well in order to block you? If so, that's illegal so did you get his rego?

Why did you take it all the way to Albany then and not get it checked in Perth?

As part of the 48,000 service the fuel filter was replaced, it was not the pump. Yes, the throttle did cut revs to idle.

Taking somebody's rego when the vehicle was lowering,as it lowers to the tyres, and alarms going off was the last thing on my mind at 110 kmh. When you travel long distances regularly, coming across "knobs" on the road is a daily occurrence when I might have to cover 800 - 1500kms for the day.

I do know why others do not get their cars serviced at the Perth dealer because they told me and I will say others from there and surrounding areas travel to Albany for excellent service, and no I don't know anybody there, I live in Broome.
Where would you like to be holed up for a couple of days, Albany or Perth ? I went and caught Black Bream every cast and met very friendly people around town wherever I went and had a courtesy car to use.
A very poor delivery experience in Perth on a new 08 TDV6 SE and a forceful lady employed there trying to get me agreeing to tint the car for $850 turned me off forever. I would drive interstate to Alice Springs rather than go back to the Perth dealer if Albany had not of been so good.

I agree with the dealer bit particularly where sales are concerned. I was stuffed around badly when I bought mine 4 years ago.

Joe the Service manager at Southerns is quite good - but you need to deal with him and not one of the others.

I have had bad experience in Albany so won't go back there. Took them three goes to do one job. Poor planning by the Service Manager. And at 1100km return each time, I gave up.

Bad fuel, eh? Might be worth carrying a spare fuel filter if the fuel up there is unreliable.

In South Africa, some have made up filters than they put into the filler when they refuel as the fuel is so bad there.

I agree you do meet cretins on the roads.

Sorry, I just re-read my post and it's rather agressive. Didn't mean to be. Thanks for the polite reply.
