Gday All,
The Wife took the Disco to the shopping centre yesterday and when she returned a couple hours later noticed some smudges on the windscreen when she looked closer some Dirty bastard had stolen the windscreen wiper.
Sad to think we should feel lucky the car wasn't trashed,
Even sadder to think it must've been a fellow L/Rover owner..
Cheers Ean

Sad that the wiper was stolen but cheap to replace - you might have been lucky that is all that happned.
But people are brazen. My old mum stood by the kerb at a busy major suburban shopping centre in Melbourne on a Saturday morning waiting for a lift. There was a guy beside her at a parked car removing the LHR wheel. He happily chatted to her while he took the wheel off the car and told her he was taking it to be repaired for being flat. He left with the wheel and a litle bit later she is still there and another guy came to the car.
This guy was the owner, the wheel changer was a wheel thief.

If its only the rubber in the wipers, it might have been crows - I know this sounds like a long shot but it has hapenned.

I had some nice chrome valve caps on my tyres that the local tyre dealer had given me. Someone knocked them off while the car was parked in the street. :( He could have got some for free from the tyre dealers! :o

I had my side window smashed on an XB falcon I owned.
The bastards stole the top anchor bolt from my passenger side seat belt and that was all.

Bugger. However it may not be a landy owner. Vandals often steal things like wipers and cb aerials for fun.

Vandals did the same thing to my Jag once,, well, we couldn't work out if they were trying to steal the wipers or just wreck them,, one was broken, and one was missing,,
I had a lucky one,,, the evening before I picked up my XAGT, all the decals went missing,, car dealer replaced them all thankfully,,,

I can beat all of that.
Years ago when working in P.N.G. I had a car that had radio stolen as well as spare wheel, jack etc.
Anyway I used to leave it unlocked with the windows down thinking they can't possibly steal anything else. They are too stupid to hot wire a car.!
Came out of the Port Moresby Aero Club one night to find the Kanaka's had stolen the dirty worn out floor mats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SWMBO reminded me of one that happened to us in kings park in perth.
Our Daughter used to get real bad car sickness whemn she was younger and we were going to a function in the park and on the way the Daughter gets sick and the only thing we had was a blanket to catch it in..The wife didnt want to put it in the bin so we left it behind the back wheels and were going to bag it then throw it when we were finished, well this car pulls up and this lady gets out looks around see's no-one grabs the blanket she's back in the car and off...Bet she got the shock of her life when she opened that blanket..
I still get a laugh thinking about it:Rolling::Rolling::Rolling:

Must have been a southerner Ean, cause you don't need wipers in Darwin this time of year.

Many years ago I was having daily urine tests. I had to leave the bottle in a plain brown wrapper on the top of the letterbox from where it would be collected.
One night I left it out then went back inside the gate (about 6 metres) to get the garbage bins. When I started back inside after putting the bins out, I noticed the large bottle of urine had been stolen.

They have just started to get a bit of rain im told..Been hot as hell out here in the gulf..In saying that got our first squally morning this morning
Its alright tho as it was the passenger side so SWMBO will still be right if it rains..The worse thing..There was none in Darwin so its coming from south, airbag costs more than the wiper..

Had that happen a couple of times.
Aslo towbar hitch pins - had a couple taken. What possible sale value has that to someone ? I now have a lockable hitch pin but, honestly.

i came out one morning still half asleep.....
jumped in my mazda to go to work.....as i went to pull out from the kerb....
something just didnt look right.......
i check over my shoulder......no cars.....
i look for oncoming traffic.....no cars......
try to pull out again.....and im thinking....somethings amiss.....
it took me a few attempts to finally wake up enough to realise someone
had stolen my door mirror overnight......
i looked around to make sure no one was watching me.....then when satisfied no one had seen me.....
i looked over my shoulder again and finally drove off......
had a silly dumbfounded smirk of stupidity and anger all the way to work that morning......

I have had batteries stolen a couple of times over the last fifty years. A few times fuel has been siphoned until locking caps became standard fitment, and even had a locking cap jemmied off once to get at the fuel. A VC Valiant ute I once owned was hot wired and driven a couple of hundred yards around the corner and the push button radio stolen. Bet they got a surprise to find the radio didn't work. A Plymouth car with front bench seat and lift out seat cushion was broken into and the underseat battery and the seat cushion stolen.

A few years back at an LROC meeting about half a dozen Landies had their spare wheel stolen.
