Hi All,

4WD Action is currently looking for Defender Utes to feature in the new Custom Utes magazine.

Post a pic and PM me your details if you're interested and I'll pass them on to the Editor.

Any modified Land Rover ute is of interest and so long as you're somewhere in Australia, including TAS, we can get a shooter out to you.

Nic.
New Vehicle Feature Writer and Land Rover Owner
4WD Action Magazine

If you've any comments about the magazine I'm happy to listen through PM, but I'd appreciate it if this thread concentrates on getting some quality Defenders the exposure they deserve. Thanks in advance.

why would you want to modify perfection ??
We don't drive jap-crap you know !!!!
:p

P.s i used to buy your mag but sadly it doesn't touch on enough real landies in features to bother with,so i went back to land rover owners international plus when they covered the (then) new d3 up north they slated it ...my thoughts were that the driver exceeded the wading depths by a long chalk and didn't drive to the conditions.
Even though not my cup of char the D3 is fairly capable.

Good to see some fair exposure to Land Rovers from a mag that in the past has done a fair bit of bashing! :p

I don't own a Defender ute...so sorry can't help you there. Hopefully one day when I've finished the build up of my project Defender I might be able to get her featured... ;)

Hw about 4wd action mentioning Aulro in their magazine like they have been asked by many people that have featured in it and to this day still hasn't happened!!!

personally I think they got a bit of a cheek canvassing for people on here.

Fellas, as we noted in another thread, there are a few at 4WD Action who are/were LR owners so they aren't anti-LR.

I did a photo shoot with these guy's a week ago and the photographer was a real nice chap. I encourage you if you have a nice ute to get up and give LR's some more exposure. If we build interest, they will sell more, which will have a flow on effect for better support for all of us. Also the more our cars apear in these mags, the less we can winge about them and the more the Jap guys will have to winge about! It will only have good flow on effects the more we promote our marque.

So go for it!

P.S. The photographer may have been blowing wind up my preverbial but he said he changed his mind about Landies and would consider one over a Jap machine! ???

Cheers.

Yes, we'll consider any LR ute, including Discos - we just need to be sure that they meet any regs in their home state.

Thanks Tim,

We've actually got a few more LRs featuring in coming editions of both 4WD Action and 4WD Custom as we try to balance out our coverage. It's harder to feature LRs because owners seem to be too shy in putting their vehicles forward, but we've been making an effort to drag more out of hiding. You know who you are! :D

Sorry you feel that way Dullbird. As a Disco owner myself and a forum user for the past few years I thought this would be a good way to improve things.

I'll see what I can do about getting some coverage of Aulro, seeing as how I've found it an invaluable source since getting back behind the wheel of a LR.

while it would be nice to see some recognition...

thats not why AULRO.com is here. its here to help LR owners.

good to see they are interested in including landies and nice that they are coming here to promote it..

good chance for users to get their trucks in a mag and that in turn creates a groundswell of support...

yes it helps them sell magazines, but it also helps LR owners...

PM sent and we are always looking for new vehicles so the scheduling will fit in with when you are available and when we can get a photographer out to you.

Do the "character marks" imbued by rolling the vehicle count as "Custom" ?

We'll need some detail of the mods and some pictures, but we're interested in anything of a LR persuasion.

If you can email details to david@4wdaction.com.au he'll be in touch.

So what is the incentive for a person to have a write up about their vehicle and it's mods?

It's like having your missus in a stick mag, do you really want every man and his dog knowing exactly what you play with? Sure they may have a basic idea when they stare with wanting eyes but some things should remain a bit of a mystery.

If there was some form of sponsorship or a small donation to the modification cause?????

I have some basic mod's and the bolt on panels on a 110 give the ability to convert a wagon to a dual cab utility in the matter of a weekend BBQ with a few spanner wielding maniacs. With the fact that the rego papers classify it as a ute with canopy, I could legally do it too.

So what exactly are you offering because the economics of such a write up seem a bit one sided from this side of the fence and it ain't my side?

What can I say Dobbo, many LR owner's like to share information and see the quality of their work appreciated by others. Who knows, if a top vehicle is featured it might just convince some of those who treat LRs as second rate 4WDs to reconsider.

At the end of the day, not everyone is motivated by what's in it for them from a financial point of view.

If this doesn't work for you then fair enough, all I can do is wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Oh I forgot the my knob is bigger than your knob syndrome, in reality everyone knows that anything bigger, brand named or more expensive is not necessarily better.

At the end of the day, not everyone is motivated by what's in it for them from a financial point of view.

If your magazine is in it for love why does it cost so much? Always plugs for manufacturers and aftermarket companies. I realise you have to cover costs but seriously, the adverts would pay enough, afterall they take up a good 90% of the publication. If I have spent the money to build the thing up, why not get some kickbacks in an article that will be 95% blatant advertising plugs for your varied sponsors. It's not as if they won't see any sales out of it. A prize for the owners for their vehicle being in the magazine all flexed up showing it's goodies. Ever heard of a hard up uni student paying the bills by being in a stick book? What is the difference?

If this doesn't work for you then fair enough, all I can do is wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

And the same to you, all the best and many happy returns for the new year.

Can't wait to see yours in there John, that thing is a weapon.
I agree with Philco, send eric "the 109" a PM, his ute is unlike anything I've ever seen.
