Just joined up and hoping for some sage advice with a sticky ecu issue. I have a 2000 Disco TD5 manual and had to replace the ECU. The original part number was MSB101184 the replacement that was shipped to me was NNN500250. I took the new unit to the mechanic and we installed it using T4. However we are getting incorrect hardware detected. T4 states that the allowed parts are NNN000120 and NNN500020. What is confusing is that I have seen sites like Britcars stating the NNN500250 superceded NNN500020 and other part suppliers that return NNN500250 when I search NNN000120. I am a bit confused. Does anyone know if there is an update to T4 that allows it to recognize NNN500250. Any advise would be welcome as I do not want to buy another ECU. What is even more frustrating is in Addisi Ababa there is only 1 garage with T4 diagnostic.

G'day and welcome !

You may have to post a request like yours in the "Electronic Diagnostics" section of the Technical Forums on this site....

I do not have any of the ars with electronic control systems so I cannot help you myself

I wonder if you are the first member from Ethiopia ?

Try sending a PM to a member here called Tombie2 (Mike).

He specialises in ECU reprogramming, so will probably have some thoughts on your issue.

And BTW - welcome. I'd be pretty sure you ARE the 1st member from Ethiopia :D

Just had an afterthought. There is a bloke called "Porny" on this forum:
Land Rover Defender - Land Rover UK Forums

And he also specialises in reprogramming ECUs. It might be worth joining up over there (it is a UK LR site) and posting there.

Cheers
David

Welcome aboard.
That ECU should work!!!
See this thread http://www.aulro.com/afvb/electronic-diagnostics/62921-non-flashable-too-flashable-ecu.html
Perhaps the workshop arent too capable with their T4.
Do a local search to see if anybody has an Auto Logic for landrover.
I can tell you I have a flash tuned Defender ECU in my manual 99 D2.The only issue they didnt sort with the autologic is the ECU thinks my D2 is Auto:eek::eek::eek::eek:,all other issues were fixed.(A/C not working, cruise not working,no temp gauge)
