Hi any ideas how to remove a stubborn series 2a steering relay, I have removed all the bolts etc and tried "drifting it in upward direction" as per the manual but its not moving

a few options.

heat the chassis with a gas axe while the relay box takes the weight of the front end on a jack stand

Soak the thing for a week with dieso brushing on engine oil first thing in the morning and dieso of an evening.

cut it out?

hit it with the really big hammer

use a hydropack.

A friend of mine tried to remove one from a 51 and the sleeve in the chassis came out with the relay. but try what Dave said you might be lucky.

.........& when you bung it back, make sure you apply plenty of Copper Grease or other anti corrosion gunk.

Another suggestion (I have not tried this!) -

Disassemble the relay in place (careful!) and heat the relay until the oil in the joint to the chassis starts to smoke. Add more diesel/pentrating oil as it cools. Then pack the relay body with ice, or better, dry ice, wait twenty minutes and try again to get it out using the methods suggested.

Hi got relay out I cut down an old hack saw blade so the teeth were about 25mmlong by 3-4mm gently eased it between relay and chassis. I saw a thread on the series2 forum (English) showed a large puller being used it pulled it out in no time. I think I will make one up for the future as I have others to do.
