Nice photos with very nice details.

I believe this is a type of kookaburra
it has beautiful blue wings

There's some great shots so far and it shows the diversity of Kookaburras that we have.

I still haven't got a shot of one from up here. They are rather allusive and they don't laugh. Yes, obviously Arnhem Land isn't that funny a place if you're a bird:confused:

Long story but I've spent sometime on an island off the coast on the southern end of the Wthsundays. The kookas there don't laugh either but have a completely different call. Perhaps due to the isolation they have developed that.

Yes they would be Blue Winged Kookaburras, they sound more like monkeys, while up the Cape we heard them, for a while we couldn't believe it was Kookaburras making the sound:o
