im not saying its correct but just to add some points to it

firstly it had a WOF, thats every 6 months over the pits, so every thing worked and there would have been no evidence of oil leeks. that just makes it worse

Cars are so cheep in NZ ( second hand) that to a few the preferred method of disposal is just leave it on the street.

a block of 20 flats, this would indicate that ( auckland town planing) the vehicle was parked in an area where this was a common problem.

they didn't notice it was missing for over 35 days, what a great mate aye

and why was not the servicing address changed, its free even free postage.

they used to auction the vehicles off. but now days there are just to many

Hesitatingly I answer with what I can..

There are assumptions here that, well, they might have had a part but they not have either.

Cars are so cheep in NZ ( second hand) that to a few the preferred method of disposal is just leave it on the street.

Let me see. I live in NZ. Always have. And I have yet to see this as the "preferred method of disposal".

Pigs might cheep/fly but cars are not that cheap, especially Landies. They are no more/less expensive than in Aus.

a block of 20 flats, this would indicate that ( auckland town planing) the vehicle was parked in an area where this was a common problem.

Now you see, there we have an assumption that might or might be true. I don't know because I don't know where it was parked. In places it is a serious pain in the neck (Ponsonby for example) but in most it is not that much of an issue.

they didn't notice it was missing for over 35 days, what a great mate aye

Well I think that is what the author said in his article. He did admit some culpability.

and why was not the servicing address changed, its free even free postage.

Hindsight is usually perfect. Doesn't make it suck less.

Don't know about Auckland. Guess so. But they don't get that many abandoned cars considering the size of the city. Most cars that are collected are tow-aways from carparks and they are not crushed, only abandoned ones.

The main issues here are the council's bureaucratic and pig-headed attitude, their pathetic selection of evidence of what constitutes an abandoned vehicle, and their half-pie attempt at finding someone to be responsible for the vehicle itself.

NZ, like most countries in the world, usually allows people to leave possessions where they want provided they don't do harm or cause inconvenience. This is a case of an arbitrary council ruling.

And it sucks, very loudly.

and where am i from? Mars?? and we are talking about auckland.

have a look at carpoint.com.au, or even ebay.com.au look at the silly prices paid for 15 year old 200 000 klm plus vehicles compared to NZ

Now you see, that's why I was hesitant.

Well buddy, let's get it out of the way now.

You're right. I'm wrong. There.

Conversation is all yours, I'm leaving it.
